Mats had some great performances during the 2014/15 campaign. However, things went south when Bravo left. I don't think it's good for a GK to have a cemented spot in the starting 11. That for sure didn't help his development. That being said I hope we will soon replace Mats with a young and capable GK. This club really deserves better.

All top keepers have a cemented spot in the starting 11. That's not the reason, he's just not good enough, especially mentally.

Tbf he's ready to be 2nd choice. He's great for a 2nd choice.

Yeah but both him and Stegen are great for 2nd choices, Barca need a 1st choice first and out of him and Stegen would chose him as 2nd choice also having the lower wages.
Though, sadly, the club won't get rid of Stegen anytime soon.

I don’t know much about Polish culture, but to me it’s pretty much assured he’s staying.
I think he just doesn’t want to set out false expectations or pressure himself or his family into making any decisions.
It’s simple. He has been happy here. His wife will recognise it and support him to stay. And that’s it. Everything involving their children will be resolved.
I think he loves this group of players.

He definitely changed our season, people quickly forget
We couldn't string a clean sheet for months before him, then they kept coming with ease and that good run of games eventually won us the league

Again.. say that to people who haven't watched Valdes.. ( I watched him since his barca debut) and he is a mediocre keeper. Too. ( and spare me those once in blue moon performances he pulled in some finals )
I watched him too and watched those before him. Baia, Hesp..Can't remember Zubizaretta a lot.
Valdes was good. Probably best Barca GK in last 30 years.
