Flick commented that he has a lot work to do re. his fitness.

But not in a sense that he's lazy, it's because he's getting back from a bad injury. He looked good, you can see he has potential but shouldn't judge him this season. He should get a lot more minutes during Pedri's injury, I prefer him to Casado and Eric at DM. He's got much higher longterm ceiling than those two in that position.

He was good yesterday on ball.. ok overall as had a few errors.

The biggest plus is that is the freest his movement has looked this season. Looked like a taller at Pedri with times the way uses his arms for balance and those gloves.

That's true, he reminds me of Pedri sometimes. Some think he's the next Busquest but he's much more mobile then Busi ever was. He'll be much stronger physically too.

Prime busquets was maybe the most mobile CDM of football. Don’t know somebody with his movements on that position if we say pedr, modric, fdy, vitinha are no classic CDM

Prime Busquets was not mobile. He was very positional and pivotal, but never mobile. In his peak, he was not fast, explosive, intense, etc.

I think he is one of the GOAT CDMs but to call him mobile is just the wrong use of the word. Yes he covered a lot of distance every game but rarely "sprinted".

Mobility has nothing to do with explosiveness or sprints. It's about agility, especially in confined spaces. Perhaps the word is understood differently in German, I don't know.

No he wasnt.. Busquets was slow but made up for it with his brain.

Busquets lack of pace in games Barca/Spain could not dominate ball hurt the team defensively a lot in those heavy defeats/poor results after decline of Xavi and Iniesta.

Personally would have Busquets as the most dominant DM ever when played with Xavi and Iniesta but without them he was nowehere near it.

Physically reminds of Nico G who was dead after 60 minutes for us. He also had a big frame early on but not using it effectively. Bernal is lankier but still needs to learn how to maximize the use of his body since he's bigger than most players on the pitch.

Nowadays Nico is chaining multiple 90s in a row for City so it's far from the hardest thing to improve in football.

Very good cameo. Our midfield looked much better with him as a pivot. However, we"ll probably see his best physical version next season at earliest.

There are some aspects of Bernal's game that remind of Busi, but he's not that profile. Busquets was high football IQ, great positioning and technique. Also he made some brilliant clean tackles. Current La Masia kids, be it Casado or Bernal, cannot recover the ball from the opponent. They might be automatic in the passing game, but defensively I don't see anything impressive other than Bernal being good in the air.
