21 - Frenkie de Jong

This is unfortunate.

He's not perfect, but then who is. He's put in a captain's performance in some of our most important games. Losing him at this crucial juncture diminishes our chances to pass CL R16 and maintain our league position.

Frenkie was better than Raphinha in the CL and every big game last season?, now I've truly heard every sentence man could possibly producem

Raphinha?. Raphinha?.

The same Frenkie that was out for months and the team didn't miss a single beat?.

That same frenkie that is at best our 5/6th best/most important player this season & was that or lower last season?

Raphinha, yamal,Pedri
Garcia & Garcia, fermin.
All better than him this season. Only 1 person on the planet could disagree with this.

Already did my list for last season.

That being said we will miss his body. But let's not pretend we've miss his play when he's been injured over the last 2-3 seasons, a game here or there, but overall the team always keeps moving & grooving.

Is fanboys better hope we lose games this time when he's out, like they always do.

There was a period in first half of season when Frenkie and Yamal were both struggling with fitness.

Barca in that time won 1 league game in 7 and fell 7 points behind Real Madird.

Pedri and Raph starting together in almost all those games.

Losing to likes of Leganes and Las Palmas at home.

Before that run Barca were 0-0 with Real until Frenkie on and whole team lifted as won 4-0.

After that run of 1 win in 7 were also struggling against Alaves at home.. Frenkie on and won.

Around then also losing 3-1 to Benfica.. Frenkie on and team improved to win 5-4.

That is not all down to him but having the best players on clearly matters.

Works both ways.

All the best players are needed to have best chance. Two missing impacts a lot as seen above.

Key word yamal 😂

You already tried to pass that off last year as us missing Frenkie, without stating yamal was also out injured.

Try again

Nah Yamal was fit before and after Frenkie and Barca still struggling.

Yamal wasnt even in all that great a form once Frenkie came back and Barca were winning again either.

Could see that one coming a mile off.

Try again.

Go tell us again how Gavi is 'more important' than Pedri and La Masia can replace Pedri soon.

Or how Gavi is better in a two than Pedri who simply 'has to be' the most advanced midfielder.

Try those again.

Laugh emoji below if admit.

Given how crucial Frenkie is to Flick’s system, arguably the most important player, a simple replacement won’t be enough. We would need to fundamentally adjust our structure, especially in the Champions League, and even more so if we face PSG.
It’s not looking good...

We can easily beat Newcastle without Frenkie but for PSG we need our best midfield even though they are much worse than last season. Better Frenkie is now out than for semi final/final where we will definitely need the Pedri-DeJong midfield to dominate other midfields, come back stronger than ever Frenkie man 💯🔥

The only possible positive aspect of all these injuries is if we get to QF/SF we might have a pretty fresh team if all available

Pedri missed something like 2 months in total. Same Raphinha. Now Frenkie a month. Lewandowski is well rested. Yamal played a lot but he didn't show signs of fatigue last season

And the CWC effect might kick in when we really need it

Newcastle should be fine as long as no more injuries.

Bruno and Livramento be a miss for them and Barca would have Raph back on LW, Yamal on RW and then Rashford pace off bench.

Also Balde or Cancelo LB whereas Gerard last time.

PSG actually dont look as great this season v teams that are physical and try to hit them on the break but not sure Flick would adapt to try that.

Being at home again should help on both ties.. hopefully.
