No renewal in sight. Contract with his agent expires next year, as does his with Barca.
Catalan presy already preparing the terrain for him leaving on a free because "his position is well covered anyway".

It will happen. Frenkie said so 2 weeks ago.
If Frenkie’s demands are not met, he will simply lower them.

Yes, the club trusts Frenkie. Did he ever do something that doesn't deserve the trust? You want to sell him because you don't trust him to renew in the end, when he finally gets rid of Dursun?
I think it's okay for now. Especially because Barca behaved badly starting a media smear campaign to push him out of the club 3 years ago. He sends signals that he wants to stay in Barcelona his entire career. He and his wife love the life in Barcelona. There are zero hints of him deceiving the club to get a free transfer next summer.

Anything can happen until next summer. And by then you can bet he will get insane sign on fee offers from various clubs since he will be free. It's all guessing but it's not guessing that Barca is and will be in disadvantage trying to tie up new contract.

Only thing that can make something happen is if Barca offer enters realm of ridiculousness.

Frenkie is not that hard-lined and willing to make concessions. Loves club and life too much. Knows he was on good contract cause of Barto as well.

With guys like Konate, Mbappe leaving in a free. Losing Frenkie for a free will hardly be the big deal the Spanish press will make out of it

From his side nothing will change. Loves his life too much. Willing to make plenty of concessions I believe. Not hard-lined as many other players I think.

Only once Barca offer enters realm of ridiculousness then yes, leave becomes possible.

Let's say an offer comes from City or PSG with a 50 million sign on bonus and a bigger salary and you're thinking it won't matter? Say Bernal returns and does great, what then? Also no matter?
Or who knows what else pops up.

We'll see but it's definitely a disadvantage for Barca and Frenkie holding all the cards now.

20% chance he pulls one over on us.

So I'm not worried.

him and olmo are the easiest players in the starting XI to replace anyways if things go south.

It won’t matter as long as Barca contract is not ridiculous low.

And no. Frenkie holding cards is not true. You’re just projecting your dislike.
He wants to play nowhere else but Barca.

I suspect Frenkie is one of those Dutch that detests cold weather, unlike lets say De Ligt.
He really is not looking forward to play in Premier. Also wife likely not looking forward to move there.

France? Dunno…League has gotten better a bit with time. Don’t think he looks forward to play their either. Even down to language Frenkie enjoys speaking Spanish. French is not as fun.

Once retired will settle in Spain. I am sure.

Horatio is right that he clearly wants to stay at Barca, even when the club was doing everything to get him out, he would leave, would be surprised if he leaves now, when the club is starting to appreciate him more.

Unless this is all apart of his grand revenge scheme

I'm also not worried about him leaving for free. The renewal might drag out until next summer but he will be 29 then. I doubt a lot of clubs in Europe will throw piles of cash on him.

All I know is that the club said they won't allow players to enter their final year of contract and it's happening. Maybe the Dursun excuse is only a play so he can leave for free without the club forcing him out this season, we'll see.

They cannot force him out, as they couldnt a few years ago. If he wants to leave he will go for free next year, if not he will renew. We all should know that it is impossible to sell frenkie de jong if he has a contract. I would be happy if he renews for max 2 years and if he goes for free next year, we move on, no problem, than we can hold casado and bernal both
