Not sure what more he’s supposed to do tonight, possess Tek to stop him fucking up? Make Martinez not slip as the ball crosses to Thuram? Make Pedri not be a pussy and head the ball instead of allowing Dumfries to hit it in?

He’s not going to be some big chance creator, not his role.

Tonali Bruno levels tonight brother.

You mean Rolls Royce levels 😂 😂

From a rolls Royce player to he's being held to a ridiculous standards 😂 .

Typical frenkie fan boy always trying to lower the bar.

Tonali easily better BTW, and tielemans lol

Players you dont even watch and just mention names others do.

Someone mentions Tielamans and suddenly he is better than FDJ also.

Not a clue.

I went back and watched a compilation of his best aspects of the game (shouldn't usually be how you judge a performance), and it occurred to me, Frenkie played passes that allowed others to receive the ball to then actually do something. It made sense why he filled up the stat sheet, PARTICULARLY on a side where Yamal was the focus. He played the pass to Olmo where he tried to wriggle a chance and almost did it. So then I wondered, why did none of these things register during my viewing. I personally believe that these passes had very little risk and were very dependent on what the receiver did with the ball. Pedri has passes like those but he also has the pass to Raphina for a headed assist to Ferran. No matter which way I try to give Frenkie credit, everything I've seen is the delegation of the responsibility to someone else to ACTUALLY create. If we take the position and assume Frenkie's role isn't chance creation, which would be a fairly decent critique, and we look at ball retention, then Frenkie had a great game, but knowing how our pivot operates, I don't think it has ever been his role to not create especially considering the positions he takes up every game.

You basically dont have first clue what his role is in the team is the issue.

Was better than Pedri tonight.

I’m no fan boy of any player, will always want any Barca player to do well and hope they turn it around when they don’t. Just seems to get overly criticised despite all the good things he does.

I myself argued that Pedri shouldn't be judged as a creator since his role wasn't to create. However he does create and we benefit as a team from that. Pedri does creates, circulates and defensive work while alternating up and down depending on Frenkie's position. Yet a constant critique on pedri is his unwillingness to take risks. Frenkie himself I even saw in the box, claiming a penalty, he clearly has an offensive responsibility and in my opinion based on this Flick team, a large part of how it operates is PLAYER AUTONOMY. Football however is an art, and just like art it is subject to interpretation. Your interpretation though seems so biased.

Never said he doesn't do good things, but that's what he does good things, solid things, fine things, some times very good things.

But if we are calling him a rolls Royce player, we are not going to hold him to a Honda Accord level.

Calling him by his name, call him the player he is.

The gaslighting of the most basic things he does just constantly sets him up for failure, because he's simply not that player.

What does Tonali do?

What did Barella do that was better?

FDJ is far better player than likes of Tonali... just latest trendy name heard from others.

I think we are finally seeing Frenkie, the player who was signed from Ajax 6 years ago. Brings control and calmness in midfield that was missing, the pivot. Under Flick it seems so effortless.
