21 - Frenkie de Jong

Frenkie is a very good player, or at least has started to show it consistently since he got an elite manager at the club after several years.

He's not a GOAT-tier midfielder though or a legendary one, but no one is claiming that anyway. Due to that there will be games here and there where he is underwhelming or not good. It's totally normal and the same goes for a lot of players.

If people's expectations are constant 8 or 9/10 performances every single game then they will be disappointed.

Nah he was very very good under Koeman and Barcas best midfielder when won league under Xavi.

There is not one player that will give 8/9 performances every week.

FDJ from last season alone when only fully fit for half of it.

If you watch this and think he 'never' passes ball forward you are a numpty plain and simple.

Season before when won league was putting through pass of season for 10 men Barca to win v Osasuna and splitting Espanyol open in their ground to help Barca win league.

Too easy lads.
😆 🤣 😂 😹.....they asked for evidences of progressive passing and after scouring the internet for hours, ended up posting a collection of half passes and tackles across 4 to 5 seasons and provided irrelevant examples.....moron, is that you 😳?... 😆 🤣

Any 85m player should be thinking of hanging his boots if he shares starting time with a "newbie" who was playing in front of 500 people less than a year ago.

I saw 2 passes of the same quality and complexity as Сosado. I asked to show 6-7. Come on, there are still 4-5 left.
Sorry bro, you will have to wait till when Russia withdraws from all of Ukraine voluntarily before you will get that from her... 😆 🤣

Agreed, the issue with him is expectations for a 85m player, 6th most expensive of all time and some times fans get caught up in a good run of games and starting talking crazy

He's a good to very good player, 60m player more than a 85m euros one.

Price is irrelevant when comparing what players in team offer on the pitch.

'Good run of games'... he has been far better than players others have argued are better for years.

Best midfielder and second to Messi in Koemans season and Barcas best midfielder and one of best in team under Xavi when won the league.

We are on for a historic treble and our two pivots are Pedri and Frenkie. That speaks enough about how world class the pair have been. A year back and most would have scoffed at the idea of Pedri playing further back and this pair not having a "destroyer" or whatever behind them in a mid three.

This is looking like the second coming of Iniesta-Xavi can't play together back around 2007.

Casado done a job and has his place. And he will have a role next season too as he does offer defensive coverage that Frenkie doesn't for certain situations.

Pedri has been top class but there has been games Frenkie has stepped up and been the better of the two.. see the QF v Dortmund or the Leganes game inbetween it.

Cant really remember that from Casado as he just isnt good enough on the ball to carry that burden if Pedri has off game.

Not that FDJ will every time or Pedri vice versa much more often.

With Casado if Pedri was off it the team toiled a lot more as seen with their record together from November on declining.

Frenkie has been world class this season ever since his ankle un-retired.

I get on his back here and there, but credit where it is due.
