Because he is a public figure who positions himself as a Muslim. And he will have a bad influence on the young guys among his fans who are Muslims like him.

It's the parents jobs to instill good values in their kids whether it's religious values, social values or something else.
Anyone that lets celebrities and athletes influence them to such a degree are not doing a good enough job parenting.
