Pedri and Casado have started 8 league games together in 2025.

Casado has been taken off at HT in 4 of them as Barca poor and not winning with him being shit

In another he was taken off when 2-0 down to Atleltico before winning 3-2.

Thats 5 of 8 games Casado off early as shit and Barca not winning. They came back to win in 4 of them.

Can include CL also.. losing 3-1 to Benfica. Casado shit. Casado subbed. Win 5-4.

That is 6 of 9 CL and League games they started together in 2025 the team has been failling to win and every single one Pedri improved after Casado off.

That comes after barely winning a league game in late November/December with those two the primary starters in midfield.

Even the Real game was won 4-0 after their partnership in midfield was broken up when 0-0 at HT.

Not a bad squad player to have.

But if they are planning to trim the midfield, he’s going to be the first to go.

The rest are far ahead of him.

I'm not so sure Gavi is/will be better than him but either way, neither is starter material, one could stay long term for depth, one will leave. He's a good player, just not as good as the hype was at the beginning of last season. A true cule, cheap, probably won't bitch around if being benched... Sell him if a good offer arrives but don't sell him for cheap, he can be useful.

His primary merit was always offering relief and control through movement off the ball and ability to play with few touches.

People forget how we used to struggle playing it out of our own half, let alone dominate possesion for entire games. Casado was a welcome sight at that point, offering ceaseless and courageous movement where previous midfield configurations had been prone to stagnation, dead waters, simply standing still and letting the opponent mark us out.

He also offers some secondary benefits, such as good passing range and decent defensive coverage, but creative orchestration was never one of them. Now when control is more of a default situation for us Casado will of course seem redundant next to guys like Pedri and Frenkie. On top of that he did just have a meh game last night.

But in my opinion he still has value, also some that goes beyond just rotating with better players. And since we've appreciated it in the past, I think we will in the future too. But it will not be in games where we already have control and need to penetrate defenses.

So Casado is shit.

Let's see what Bernal can offer

Is he the new scapegoat? Casado has his uses and is also a young player who will improve. He is the best long passer in the team after Pedri, and his switches are a good weapon to have. Tenacity and grit goes without question

Well, the big problem is that if Flick is consistently hooking him after 45 that Pedri or Frenkie can't get a proper rest game. That much is obvious.

But in a game like today, and in the first half, where we face 9/10 men behind the ball then the onus is on Olmo more than Casado to present himself more for the ball and get more involved creativity.

Casado has a role, but more to get things started and get the ball away from Araujo asap.

Nah his passing forward yds was less than half of Frenkies.

He made 2 progressive passes.. that is horrendous.
He made 0 passes into final third... horrendous
He made 0 passes into the box... horrendous
He made 1 long pass.
Progressive carry yds.. half of Frenkie.

This is all with Oviedo sitting off him wanting ball to go to him and not Pedri.

Even with all that space and doing nothing with ball had had 87% pass accuracy compared to Pedri 95% and Frenkie 97%.

Forum rules as said last night.. he did nothing with ball and correctly hooked at HT for the 4th league game of the 8 started with Pedri in 2025.

Looked like Pedri was sick of it and ignoring him at times.

I think against levante it was right to take him off, but yesterday he wasn't the problem, but he was the easiest player to replace and flick wanted to change something.

We would have won either way, but olmo was a bigger issue and to a lesser extended raphinha, which is not a to say casado was good or great

He was poor, and it's Pedri and Frenkie are the best double pivot we can play. Can see they completely trust eachother in the ball which makes things much easier. Can they do it against a midfield 3 supported by fullbacks if Olmo is drifting in lala land? That's another question.

Casado has a role but has kind of found a level. He wasn't good last night at all, and Flick don't want him out there at all when we need a goal.
