15 - Andreas Christensen

Ohh how I hate Deco.

Just like this winter, where he said Cancelo is our only signing and Araujo is back. He will do the same next summer.
We all know a LCB/CB is the utmost necessity, but we will get Christensen renewed & Araujo "recovered"

They're extending his contract because of the injury. This extension shows that Barca cares about its players even when they're going through a tough time. If they didn't extend it, he wouldn't have a chance of finding a club next season where he can train and get back into shape. I just hope he's only earning the bare minimum.

This is not about Christensen. And I support him getting extended. We aren't a mercenary club, so all good.

My point is, the nature of Deco and his excuses. I am and most of us is projecting the same this summer, like last summer, where we knew, Christensen's history and Araujo's inability, but he still chose to comment, saying we have plenty of CBs. It was same last year, christensen was out for almost a year, and araujo had an injury while also having a mare of a semi-final game.

So what changed now? Its the same. Hence I expect the same answer and action to be taken like last summer.

Perhaps it was a mistake not to sell Araujo for 40 million last winter, but back then Araujo was worth more. So, it was a speculation that didn't pay off. As for the rest, the financial resources are limited. Deco opted for Joan Garcia, arguably their best signing since Pedri. I'm ignoring what Deco and his colleagues say in interviews and only considering the signings in terms of their financial strength, and I see it as a positive.

We all know that F.C Barcelona is financially constrained. Everyone knows this.

So why doesn't Deco/Laporta be truthful about it. Just say there are financial difficulties in signing another CB.
And I can guarantee you none of us will make a peep about that statement.

But instead they be liars and weasels and say stuff like "we have plenty of CBs." or all summer trying to sign players like NIco with inflated sums, so then the issue becomes a sporting issue rather than a financial one.
And that's where my and most people's problem is.

If they just said there are financial constraints in signing more players. Then a Summer of getting Joan Garcia, Roony & Rashy is perfect. And no one would have complained. Its probably one of the better summers we had in the last 5 years.

I can't disagree with you, you're right, but as I said, I ignore these interviews and consider the transfers based on my opinion of the financial situation. Perhaps they say these things for attention because it brings in money if Barca is constantly talked about over the summer, but as I said, I pay less attention to that.
