13 - Iñaki Peña

He isn't good enough to be first choice GK at any club with ambition, add to that his discipline problems I would be surprised if we get more than 5 mill for him
And the rewriting begins. We are a club with ambition, and did fairly well with him for half a season. In November-December bad patch, problems were obviously much deeper than who's on the goal. In fact, in some of those games, he even saved us and prevented clear goals with crazy saves. People often forget, but those dealing with his market price hopefully don't. If we don't get 5 milion for him it will be a disgrace of immense proportions.

Yes we are, and he isn't good enough for us, I think we all can agree with that. Don't know if you remember but there was a couple of goals where his skills, his length, his commanding of penalty box area is inferior to all our rivals. We cant have that and neither will any other club that want to go somewhere. That doesn't excuse our lackluster defense of course but then it is even of greater importance to have a GK that steps up in a big way and he didn't. Add to that, if the rumor's are true, that he cant be on time for practice, well simply not good enough.

I do agree he's not good for us, he should go. But look at the state of goalkeepers in some of the other big clubs. Are they really any better than Pena?

Turkey's not his level

He's a solid GK, can be a starter for a big club easily (specifically considering what bums most those clubs are still employing)

We must not let his market value decrease just because we had a better GK. Performances he has shown before dropped this season are more than enough to sell him for a good price.

Pena?

No top club is thinking of him as a starter. Would be suprised even if he can to that in Turkey.

If likes of Celta are interested then send them Pena and Torre/Fort on loan for a Mingueza back possibly for depth at RB.

Girona perhaps. Gazzaniga is turning 34.

Depends if City group want to have a few decent Catalans there for the locals, or want to put a future prospect there for Man City.

Though this season, I question which is the feeder team.

It's a bit worrisome. These are little things, but they add up. Ansu, Fort, Rapha, Torres, now Pena. The team isn't as focused and united anymore as they were a couple of months ago, or during the weeks when they trashed Bayern and Madrid.
The players allow their ego to shine, instead of puttin everything else behind the common treble goal. Flick needs urgently a big talk to reset them.

Those few games when he wasn't a disaster really went to his head. Reality check next season when he'll be benched at Galatasaray or somewhere similar level.

Blame the Catalan press and social media. Barca official outlets too.
They are doing a massive disservice to the club and players themselves by their teenage fawning over anything. They are bunch of retards.

I had hoped most cules would've learned from what we only recently witnessed unfold in the media from Dec-Jan regarding Olmo & Pau

This is the age we live in, misinformation is widespread and shouldn't trigger everyone

Pena hasn't been happy in a long time. Nothing new. There are always some players who are not happy. It's completely normal. They all want to taste "this success" or be part of it.

It's not about forcing them to be happy, but about stopping their egos to harm the common goal. It's completely normal to be disappointed, angry if you're not playing. Flick said this himself, but It's something else to show it that way. That's pure ego, nothing else.
Their minds have to tell them: "Look I'm angry now, but there are more important things on the line than me right now. So I try to keep supporting the team without making a fuss and find another way to let my frustration out". At least that's how it should be.

Well, I think in Peña's case it is certainly more than that - more than a taste, he wants & believes he has earned right to play

He has a strong argument tbf and considering he is approaching final year of contract, it's not a simple situation to unpack and still get value in the market (transfermarkt claims 10M currently)...esp. since he had already gone on loan previously waiting for his chance

However rumors clubs like Celta Vigo are interested in him on a free with Deco maintaining a sell-on clause in place of a transfer fee. This would help mitigate the tension that would otherwise be difficult to overcome, let Iñaki decide his destination and then hope a 50% or similar sell on fee will help the bottom line
