Would imagine playing for a historic club like Barcelona, best stadium, great city, with best players, would be a major pull but no. We overpaid these players for decades.
I remember reading an interesting article years ago about the NBA, maybe 12-15 years. It was about how rookies was bullied and laughed at by veteran stars, about theor clothes, cars etc. How they should carry themselves with certain prestige and luxurious way, to match being NBA players.
And how that made many of them broke (won't happen now as they are far better paid), or how it made them spend ton after they get their second contract for that.
This makes me think about players in Barca, sure it is amazing feeling to be in such great city & club, playing along those stars.
BUT
No one wants to be the "broke" guy playing beside those stars, and remember that taxes, agent fees already takes over half of their income, then they try to buy a house, save money for the future and live to the luxurious "standards" of Barca players. In addition to some hiring personal trainers/psychologist/nutritionists etc.
It will always makes players want more money to be in Barca or Real, not less. There is element of jealousy and living standards that you can't ignore.
Obviously, we are a bit too generous, while we need to be more shrewd in some cases. I am just pointing that what we think as an advantage, isn't really that in theor heads.
