11 - Raphinha

Horatio

You're welcome
With him, 17 wins, 1 draw, 0 losses. Without him, 12 wins, 1 draw, 6 defeats.
Also only 2 times we didn’t manage to score was this game and against chelsea and in chelsea game raphinha came on min 62 but we were playing with 10 man from min 44.

Probaly reaching there.

Not reaching at all. But these stats don't mean that Raphinha is this unique player that has no equal. It just means he is the only player of that profile we have. If we had more players who are naturally aggressive and intense, and have a great engine, Raphinha missing would not be as much of an issue as it is.

It shows the gaps in the squad that we have, which are big, not necessarily that Raphinha can't be replaced. He can be, but not by physically weak players like Olmo and Ferret, grandpa Lewa, or lazy Yamal. They do not have Raphinha's profile, their qualities are in different areas. In the areas where a fully fit Raphinha delivers big for us, they are liabilities.

You combine all that, and you reach the conclusion that Raphinha is our best big game player, at least until Yamal finds a way to be decisive in these intense games also, which this season hasn't happened yet.

Trying to add nuance to something as obvious as Raphinha being a critical part of this team, and that we are obviously worse without him, never made sense..

There are several critical players in the team. Pedri, Raphinha, Lamine would probably be top 3, and any of these would be missed. But even inside this group, the player that has no actual replacement in terms of what he actually brings on the pitch for the team is Raphinha. He is always gonna be missed the most because of how our squad is built. If say we signed Luis Diaz, he would have been missed the least of all 3.

Barcelona have suffered six defeats this season:

❌ PSG (1–2)
❌ Sevilla (1–4)
❌ Real Madrid (1–2)
❌ Chelsea (0–3)
❌ Real Sociedad (1–2)
❌ Atlético Madrid (0–4)

All of them came without Raphinha — except against Chelsea, where he was introduced in the second half with the game already nearly decided.

Those stats ignore he missed the toughest games.. away to Ateltico, away to Real, home to PSG, away to Chelsea and laregly missed the games v teams in top half of La Liga.

Also it is giving him credit for wins in games he went off in when not winning.. Oviedo, Espanyol and Sparta Prague.

Barca didnt lose to Sociedad as Raphinha not there and they didnt beat the likes of Newcastle because he was.

He is important but as Ebbe Skohivdal said about stats....

Not just him missing in those games either. Pedri has missed more than one of them. Yamal missed v Sevilla and others and Rash missed also.

I understand this. But in the two games vs AM and Madrid that he played in he scored 3 goals, and was man of the match in both. So this argument of yours is just a coincidence.

All of them came with Frenkie on the field and teams closing spaces efficiently, coincidence.

I think not lol

Raph is important. I would have him as one of four most important.

But even the Real game you say with and without Rap but not that simple.

Real when played Barca had won 13 of first 14 games in league and CL. Only losing away to Ateltico. They were still riding high on Xabi for most part.

Also they were at home.

By time Barca played them in Supercup Xabi was clinging on to job and had won 6 of previous 12.

Also it was nuetral ground.

Also a factor is Mbappe played in first and was injured for the Supercup game.

A lot more to it.

Pedri played in 3 of them...

Pedri managed to concede 2 of those goals in dying minutes v Sevilla once Frenkie went off the park.

Pedri losing to Oviedo before Frenkie on to change game

As opposed to Pedri being on park last season as lost to likes of Monaco, Leganes, Atletico, Las Palmas and more while losing to Benfica and worst team in league Vallodolid and more.

While Pedri was losing to Oviedo...

Imagine putting Frenkie & Pedri in the same sentence, that only ends one way.

Pedri without Frenkie under Flick...

Monaco - Away - Loss
Osasuna - Away - Loss
Real Madrid - Away - Drawing.. Frenkie came on to win game 4-0.
Sociedad - Away - Draw
Las Palmas - Home - Loss
Leganes - Home - Loss
Atletico - Home - Loss
Getafe - Away - Draw
Alaves - Home - Drawing.... Frenkie came on to win game 1-0.
Benfica - Away - Losing...Frenkie came on to win game 5-4.
Vallodolid - Away - Losing... Frenkie subbed on for Pedri. Win game 2-1.
Real Oviedo - Away - Losing... Frenkie came on to win game 2-1.

Can add a couple games that Barca won AFTER Pedri went off and Frenkie was best player on park.. Girona and Sparta Prague this season.

Losing/drawing to that pile of dross while you bitch about Barca losing with Frenkie and no Pedri v likes of Chelsea away and Ateltico away.

Have some shame laddie.

I love Pedri and rate him as one of best in world but if want to start these lists its easy game.

Three*

We lost every game one played in this season.

Was replaced by a 3rd division kid last season and a utility man this season.

That would be the 'third division kid' who with Pedri had Barca 7 points off Real and losing to likes of Monaco, Leganes, Atletico, Las Palmas, Osasuna etc and being scudded 3-1 by Benfica in CL.

Refer to list of top results/performances below.

Monaco - Away - Loss
Osasuna - Away - Loss
Real Madrid - Away - Draw
Sociedad - Away - Draw
Las Palmas - Home - Loss
Leganes - Home - Loss
Atletico - Home - Loss
Getafe - Away - Draw
Alaves - Home - Draw
Benfica - Away - Loss
Vallodolid - Away - Loss
Real Oviedo - Away - Loss

Top stuff.

Four

But go tell us again how Frenkie/Gavi are better than Pedri in a two.

Go tell us how Pedri simply has to be the 'most advanced midfielder'.

Go tell us how Casado is better than Frenkie.

Go tell us how Kessie would be Barcas best midfielder.

Go tell us how Gundo just had to simply stay at Barca and mock those who said he was done.

Go tell us how Eric.. another player wrong on .. is better than Frenkie.

Go tell us how Romeu is a DM and all been asking for so should be happy.

Go tell us again how Gavi is more important than Pedri and should play ahead of him in a two.. tell us how Pedri is not as important as La Masia player through soon that can do what he does.

I insist.

Not a single clue.
