Hindsight is 20/20.

As are all judgements of transfers.

It is is up to the club to make sure they are looked back on as good signings and fitting with what team needs.

There is one wide player of four that plays in way that suits Xavis tactics.

Now that one player is injured and who is going to slot in?

The two who Xavi wanted and paid 120m for? One of the two?

You go on and on about our style of wingers, but if Raphina and co were good enough we wouldn't have this discussion. They get plenty of freedom.

If they are not good enough that is on Xavi for thinking they are anyway.

Raphina and Torres are playing nothing like they did for club and both look like confidence is shot.

120m on players that are not good enough or dont fit or both.. either way the point remains.

Raphina and Dembele are completely different players and Dembele suits this system... Raphinha doesnt.

The style suits neither of Torres and Raphinha and confidence looks shot on both of them.

At least the Raphinha signing had some sense, kinda.

The Ferran Torres signing on the other hand.........

It didnt really unless Xavi was going to change way team play and/or Dembele was leaving.

Left with a back up RW who doesnt fit as a lone RW hugging touchline. He cant go on outside and is too easy to stop when teams double up.

He never played like that for Leeds.

Sign wide players that fit or are more like for like back up to Dembele etc so dont have to try and change system to fit them in.

I thought he can be decent, but we all see that he is not best with dribbling and passing players.

Atleast if he could score some goals from outside it would be good, but he is really bad for our style.

We were negotiating for him at a time when we didn't know if Dembele was going to continue. Could argue they should have pulled the plug on the signing once Dembele continuing became clear, but I think their plan was for him to replace Dembele full-time. They obviously didn't expect Dembele's form to get better and better.

He's not supposed to copy Dembele. You think a right-sided David Villa would have any issues in Xavi's system? I think not, he would make the position his own.

Raphina is just individually not up to par right now, but first seasons can do that to a player (see Modric, SAF's famous saying...).

Someone need to get those knuckle heads in a room and explain to them that a winger should be able to dribble and be quick, if he cannot do either one of these things then don't sign him. Unless he's an exceptional dribbler that doesn't need a lot of pace to be very effective.

Xavi is very much playing him in similar role to Dembele on touchline and asking him to make things happen by running at and disrupting defence.

Never been that player and at Leeds was given freedom to get inside and have full backs overlapping.

Again... it is on coach get players 'up to par' so still remains with Xavi.

Barca are not playing in style to get best out of Raphina and what he showed at Leeds.

Lets see if Raphina explodes like Modric should this set up remains..

Same thing could have been said about a number of failed transfers that went the other way to Modric. They think that about Hazard? Still waiting.

Would be very Barca-like to invest in the hopium that a player explodes in his second season only for his value to tank lol

Dembele cuts inside a ton.

Watching Raphinha try to dribble is painful. Even when he's 1v1.

Where he thrives is by playing a more creative role inside, quick 1-2 touches.
