Any athlete is going to decline. That's life. Biggest problem is Valverde. That fucking idiot is clueless. He has no plan, no vision... Nothing. Bring a world class manager in and he would utilize Messi in the best possible way. Fuck Valverde.

Messi is not as explosive as before. His vision is still great though and we gotta mold the team to take advantage of that rather than rely on him dribbling 5-6 players like earlier.

You aren't the only one who thinks we won't win the CL this year

I keep saying allowing him to have that free role from his Guardiola days is a waste of time, put him in the final third a la Merten or Insigne and utilize his incredible finishing technique and game awareness. He's not explosive anymore but he's still agile enough to beat his man and score fuck tons of goals. His playmaking ability can be used to provide nice through balls and final balls in the last line of attack, leave the ping pong balls to Rakitic and Busquets.

I'm not saying that Messi has mental hangups or is a choker or anything. I just don't think the style of player he is now and the role he plays in our team makes him as suitable for dominating tougher matches.

Games are usually decided in midfield, especially in games between 2 good teams, our midfield isn't dominant anymore especially when you play Rafinha and Sergi Roberto in midfield, thats the midfield of midtable La Liga team. Don't forget Messi bossed barça's last 2 La Liga visits at the bernabeu. I really want to see what Arthur can do in midfield.

Messi at Camp Nou is usually brilliant. Messi away from home is easily kept out the game.

In reality at 31 he should be facilitated more by players around him as Ronaldo has been for years (Benzema and co) whereas Messi has to do more than ever and has to put up with trash like Suarez, a useless manager and do everything.

This,Messi is aging and yet he needs to work more as a midfielder and scorer. There's a reason tougher focus their defense on Messi because stopping him already 80% of stopping Barca. He needs to be surrounded by better midfielders than what Barca has

Ballon D'or no longer serves the purpose for what it was originally intended for. Nowadays, its given to the best player (or the most popular one) of CL winning team, not the best player of the season overall.

It has lost its credibility so whether its Messi, Ronaldo, Modric or anyone, I don't care who wins it.

And, its better if others do the same and stop hyping the pointless award.

Let's enjoy Messi while he is still playing and hope for winning silverware with him, rather than that stupid Ballon D'or trophy.

Soccer is a team sport, people forget that other players played international game just a few days before. A man alone can't decide a match. And he wasn't 19 anymore so he knows by dribbling alone won't help. Nowadays his biggest potential is when he is surrounded by players who could efficiently provide an output.

we should go back to 442 and use Messi in the middle this season

1) Messi is better through the middle
2) Dembele is better on the right
3) Rakitic is better in a deeper midfield role than covering the right for Messi
4) Coutinho can play further forward because there's a double pivot behind
5) Our flanks are much more balanced. With 433, we have 3 players (Dembele, Alba, Coutinho) all attacking down the left and virtually nobody down the right considering how infield Messi often plays.
