10 - Lamine Yamal

About right so far with how he plays. Few runs, expects ball to feet, minimal off the ball work, defends when he feels like if he feels like. So, like a less effective Neymar style player, equally skinny and waiting for the skightest contact to go down milking fouls. So... Spanish Robinho. He is very young and he can mature by fixing some bad habits.
he is riding challenges, hardly going down to milk fouls. Buy glasses and don't spout BS

If you guys are happy with him this season, fine by me. I am not. Not by a long shot. We should play through him far less than we are doing and demand from him to work harder off the ball. Ask for more passes behind the defensive lines, mix it up a little. He almost never does that. We're playing through Yamal as if he's some unplayable menace 1 vs 1. He is not. He loses a good amount of balls or takes a high amount of solo actions that don't produce much even vs subpar sides.

You're all giddy and happy he produces stuff, but with the huge amount of attacks that go through him every game it's normal he makes some of them work. Not some special feat for a talented player, which nobody denies he is (Robinho had bags of talent also). We are starting to defer to him like we did with Messi. Except Messi was three times the player.

Even vs Alaves. Olmo has Rashford and Yamal as options, with Rashford in a much better position and he defaults to Yamal. Other players do the same. Pass to Lamine whenever open, forget about the rest. We are turning into a positional side and losing the edge in fast transitions that we had last season.

Someone check that @serghei guy. It has to be mental illness at this point.

Think Yamal is at Robinho's level and Newcastle are on the same level of Qsg or Chelsea.

Normally, a winger has 2 ways to get into scoring positions. One is to dribble players from deeper, like Yamal is doing. The 2nd is through off the ball movement, making runs, exploiting various spaces on the field. And what you want is both wingers exploiting and testing these possibilities. They of course will naturally be better at one and not as good as the other, but both of these main means of creating danger from wide positions have to be fully exploited so the opponent does't get to simply settle into comfortable patterns of defending.

Having Raphinha doing mostly runs, and Lamine mostly only waiting ball to feet... that's turning the team into a very predictable side. Opponents know this and simply crowd Yamal and that's it. Half the job is already done.

12 goals and assists in 10 Liga games this season. Most in Barca and second behind Mbappe only.

But but he is just Robinho, Denilson, Traore, Saint Maximin level of player

Robinho was a top player and a huge talent initially. Yamal can walk on his path if he is not careful. And doesn't work on his issues, thinking fancy tricks with the ball are the only thing it takes to make it.

More runs, better pressing, and more workrate are what is needed from Yamal. Just being fancy on the ball doesn't cut it.

The pass to Rashford was more difficult so Olmo went for Yamal. He lacks confidence

Nobody forbid him to pass to Rashford. Olmo just needs a bit more time before he regains full confidence and can go for the tougher passes

And honestly this is fairly obvious

Do you really think someone would crucify Olmo if he passed the ball to Rashford who was in a better position and he scored a goal? I really don't. He just couldn't do it, and went for the easier/safer option

This is a classic example of agenda. And no matter how much you deny it. Maybe you're not even aware. BBZ spoke of how "punchable" Yamal is to most of the fans. Perhaps it is true. But you guys don't have to pretend you love him

You could literally do the same for someone like Gerard Martin. "Oh a dumb teammate just passed the ball to Martin instead of Ferran who was in better position. Martin is clearly controlling this team and everyone is scared of not passing the ball to him"

Lamine with Raphinha will lead to a lot of goals as we saw last year.

Because Raphinha is quick and makes excellent runs in behind.

Which is why I'm begging Deco and Laporta to sign a top striker that's also quick and makes those runs to not only free up space for Lamine, but also allow his passes to actually end up counting.

Which is why I absolutely hate the Asllani rumor and Kane scares me a bit too due to his age and ankle problems.

It need to be Victor Osimhen because Julian Alvarez is going to be unavailable. Fuck no to Guirassy whose stats are hiding his hideous performances this season and Samu who we don't have time to develop.

Lamine needs to make more runs himself. Score more goals like he scored vs Madrid in Supercup, Dortmund at home etc. Where pass was made by other attacking players and he was the one who made the runs and made himself open.

If Lamine wore a white shirt you'd be frothing with praise. Like you did for no goal in his last 30 games Rodrygo. :putin:
