10 - Lamine Yamal

Don Juan Laporta Estruch

Basta yaaaaaaa, Cabron ! y Bona nit 🥂
The comments in here are fucking disgusting.

I expected nothing less from anti Barca trolls like Iniesta_Ultra, feggydinho and Malvolio, who always show their true colours when Barca loses, but as has been mentioned above, does he really deserve to be lynched for some benign Instagram posts?

Why don't all of you go back to when you were 18 and imagine you finished as 2nd best player in the world and were brought up in the environment he was brought up in. I can tell you right now, all of you and me myself would be wayyyyyy more arrogant than Lamine is. And actually Lamine has been nothing but humble in the few interviews he has ever done.

Lynching a guy for being our best player when we were in the game and the ONLY one who created any danger and then being anonymous when surprise fucking surprise THE WHOLE TEAM WAS ANONYMOUS, is some ridiculous standards to hold an 18 year developing young player to. The fact is, if there was a fair referee, Mendes would have been off and Lamine would have been the biggest reason Barca would have probably gone on to win.

If the comments here are the general views displayed across the fanbase then it is probably best for both parties if he left the club.

Interesting, so saying Mendes was better than Yamal overall in that game or even the last 2 times they faced (while getting MVP) now looks like trolling to you?

So when Yamal doesn't win a game, and someone says Yamal wasn't the best player there, that qualifies as lynching

What is happening is excellent. Last thing we need is to foster another amigo, oh poor guy... culture. Weak, soft, uncompetitive, not the makings of a great team like we hope to build. He had a chance to prove himself vs PSG, failed, his direct opponent was man of the match probably, this should motivate him to put more effort next time.

If it doesn't, then we do really have a problem. Well, he said it himself, he surely has the talent, so if he doesn't win the biggest trophies, it must be because of his attitude.

Needs a better full back behind him than Kounde if want to get best out of him.

Yamal was ok.

He looked demoralised as game went on.

Getting ball too wide and too deep too often.

When teams can press that high need to find another way of getting him into game.

Other than Ferran runs in behind there was little going on or him to connect with.

Good game to take him down a peg or two. Too many mouths at Barca recently.

I never saw him dropping with Mendes. On that alone he was poor. If you don't drop with the fullback, then it means you hand over numerical superiority to the opponent.

When a team presses high and they do it in an intense and well coordinated manner, your attackers are supposed to drop to provide passing options. Then the pressing team's backline either follows the attackers, or they leave him to receive between the lines.

Our attackers did not do this nearly enough. Because it requires a lot of effort.

PSG also didnt just leave Yamal when Mendes went up the park. They were careful to cover him still so not like a man spare either.

Looked like Barca gambled a bit on not making it 1v1 battle between wide players and full backs and it didnt pay off.

Kounde is shit at passing out under pressure can see it clear as day and it a massive weakness when teams attack it.

Majority of time they did offer options anyway but you dont want them always dropping either.

Yamal was back.

A few times he was over elaborate when back in defensive third.

I will download the full game. Very curious what happened to PSG's defensive setup when Mendes went forward. Who was tasked with Yamal, was it traditional close marking? Doubt it. Most likely, nobody marked Yamal, they just cut the direct passing lanes to him, so this required Yamal to move off the ball far more to get in possession. Which he didn't. My guess is he took himself out of the game by not putting enough effort.

Henry talked about it after game.

They covered for Mendes defenisvely when went forward.

Not all methods are build the same. Some methods of blocking players allow teams to create superiority and put pressure on the marked players to move well to get on the ball.

Do not think we provided enough escape routes to beat their press. That was the key issue for me. Kounde and Martin were not particularly defficient on the ball. Sure, they are not Hakimi or Mendes obviously, but their errors were caused by PSG's better collective play. Better pressing, more hard working forwards, more athletic players.

Kounde and Martin were wooden and looked like deer in headlights trying to play out.

PSG played on it all game.

Its not even giving ball away it is just having no real ability to take ball smoothly and calmly choose an option that can help beat press.

Too often a rushed pass looking like dont know what will do until control ball and contriibuting to ball being treated like a hot potato.

Yamal was far too elaborate and trying to prove he is best player in world.

Very very few times any of that front four or Lewa when on had the calmness to play it simple and realise the midfield/Defence need a breather.

Messi was/is the master of that he could dictate the temp from wide and slow whole game down when team needs it.

Yamal doesnt have that yet.

Granted this is a troll video but look at how many times he turns down a simple pass to FDJ or Pedri who could try to get foot on ball and move it.

Instead he launches some highlight reel moment that is all or nothing.

If anything this game showed me is that Yamal should have won BDO.

PSG would win last season even without Dembouz, we would be 3rd in the league 15 points behind Madrid and go out against first serious team in the CL without Lamine.
Unironically shows Salah deserved it more than Yamal. He had a much better league season and had misfortune of going up against PSG/Mendes first round where Yamal wouldn't have made the difference either.
