I don't see why very detailed personal and team performance metrics can't be structured in to every player's contract where salary can never be begrudged if underperforms to expectations.
Coz there's a bogeyman, and it's name is Mia Kheilefi.

I have combined my thoughts on this issue into one post. I may have to come back to this post in the future when we find ourselves in a pit again.
In fact, Laporta is now facing the same choice Bartomeu once did — although slightly easier, since Leo's stature was still greater than Yamal's is today.
It’s obvious that Bartomeu, being a financier, understood that renewing Leo's contract under insane conditions would negatively affect the club’s wage structure and ultimately threaten its financial future. But at the same time, he couldn’t get the thought out of his head that the fans would tear him apart if he didn’t extend Leo. And the fans — let's be honest — are mostly short-sighted. They don’t think in the long term. Even now, look at the majority of their comments: “Give Yamal whatever he wants. He’s our best player.”
Bartomeu lacked the character and strength of spirit to make a decision that, in the long run, would have saved the club from financial trouble. And we all know how it ended. Bartomeu left, leaving behind a mess. Messi and the "amigos" left, leaving the same mess. And not one of them, except for Piqué, forgave the club a single cent when it found itself in a dire financial situation.
After Leo’s departure, Laporta said — the club is above any player.
Laporta, either you show character and protect the club from future financial problems, or you cave in to Yamal’s family, to Mendes, out of fear of the majority of fans who would be outraged if Yamal decides to leave after rejecting the club’s offer — and in doing so, you’ll once again jeopardize the club’s long-term sporting and financial stability.
The choice is yours, Laporta.
The team Lamine joins would eventually dominate European football for many years to comeGoing bankrupt is far worse. It kills the club from top to bottom.
Losing a star player is nowhere near the massive blow bankruptcy is.
You can always rebuild with the money after losing a star player. Teams often get better after losing their star players. Bankruptcy never does any good and jeopardizes the present and future of the club.
Not the kind of release clause footy clubs deal with...........Coz there's a bogeyman, and it's name is Mia Kheilefi.
If you go bankrupt, you'll have to sell Yamal eventually anyways........The team Lamine joins would eventually dominate European football for many years to come
And we wouldn't rebuild shit. All the money we would earn would be spent on flops, Neymar is the prime example
Losing Lamine would mean we would have to wait some 10-15 years to be back to the top again, United levels of irrelevance and downfall
Unless of course La Masia has another one in the pocket coming soon, which is not very likely
And we're not going bankrupt with YamalIf you go bankrupt, you'll have to sell Yamal eventually anyways........![]()
This isn't true though. The team Lamine joins would eventually dominate European football for many years to come
It isn't really that hard to create the environment when you have a world class talent to build around especially if you have fat budgetThis isn't true though.
You had Messi from 2015 to 2019 and you clearly didn't dominate Europe.
It's a lot more about the collective, the system, the managers and the recruitment than just individual brilliance.
Every player needs the right environment and support to win things.
Why didn't Barca do it after Neymar left? They had prime Messi for 5 more years? It isn't really that hard to create the environment when you have a world class talent to build around especially if you have fat budget
Give Yamal to PSG, Pool, Bayern or Madrid and they will be at the very top, if not immediately then in 2-3 years
Retarded board, that's well known we could have achieved more in that period if we had smarter people in chargeWhy didn't Barca do it after Neymar left? They had prime Messi for 5 more years?
Well that's what I am saying.Retarded board, that's well known we could have achieved more in that period if we had smarter people in charge
Yes but once you have a player of Yamal's level it is significantly easier to make a world class teamWell that's what I am saying.
A lot of things need to go right for a team to dominate. It's not as simple as sending a star player to a team and dominating easily.
The coaching, scouting, recruitment, system, management matters the most.
If you go bankrupt, you'll have to sell Yamal eventually anyways........![]()
