Eating and drinking only after sundown for an entire month is super bad for circadian rhythm.
Intermittent fasting can be healthy but this regime has it completely backwards. Fasting itself can be healthy but this isn’t it.

Going without water with the level of physical activity they do is never healthy, though.

If Lamine was the first ever footballer to fast during matches this would maybe make some sense but that's far from the truth

Your body gets used to it, eventually. If it's his first year it might be tough but I doubt that

Belief that it will affect his performances is baseless, because over time we have experienced muslim players actually performing significantly better than they usually do during Ramadan. Lamine last night also had a top performance.

Do we really know if Yamal's fasting during the day?
Barcelona is carefully managing Lamine Yamal and Ansu Fati’s training during Ramadan, ensuring proper hydration and nutrition outside fasting hours. Benfica have four players also observing the fast. @Jordigil

Maybe I'm wrong but isn't it possible for high profile athletes to seek exemption from fasting in special cases? I think I remember it was Kante or Benzema who did it ahead of a very important game. But "fuck knows".

IV drip therapy baybay.

By game time Lamine will have broken his fast and be better than ever. It's a non issue.

Return leg could be more dicey as it is during fasting time with the early kickoff. Barcelona should have probably challenged this and UEFA should have taken this into account and moved the early KOs to either 9 as the rest of the games, or to Thursday.

No they can't. No way. Kante certainly didn't do that.

Flick probably instructed him to be cautious. If he saw him acting crazy to score a goal at 3-0 he would have been subbed just like Raph. I don't see a problem here. He played on low energy mode in the 2nd half.

I'd rest Raphinha more as he is the one that makes runs all the time. Yamal being the far superior talent can stay on and play on lower tempo. Raphinha is always running like a mad man so to temper that he has to go out because this is who he is as a player.

Flick played it well. Pedri and Raphinha are the hardest workers and the pistons of the team.

Don't believe zilch that these instagram kids do any such thing as fasting and even know what their ramahambamarama shit means, especially somebody, whose dad is gangzta of the yard. Prolly snatching hamburgers with his gf at the evening cinema, while writing some correct bs mantra on social media to appease local imam.

Don't know if he does or does not fast. I would respect him more if he did. Would show virtue and discipline.
However, virtue signaling on social media is low iq and gay.

He looked tired. Was stuggling to get back and help Kounde and Benfica were playing on it with swtiches.

Correct decision to take him off.
