From 2019 to 2023 it was constantly reported that Mbappe was Klopp's dream signing.

Think he made that statement around 2021.

He was often asked about it in press conferences and he would always say something along the lines of "I wish we could sign/afford him".

Deschamps once talked about how highly Klopp rated Mbappe and was interested in him.
