10 - Lamine Yamal

Just watched his highlights. Scary good.

I was telling folk that his 14 dribbles completed at San Siro is reminiscent of Messi's 17 completed at Old Trafford in 07/08.

Barca narrowly lost in both instances but they couldn't handle Yamal or Messi. Had them all on skates and you can just see the greatness that's about to be unleashed.

His top level is so far clear of Raphinha it's not even funny. Perfect example of raw talent vs. extreme hustle.

Neymar won first Libertadores since Pele at Santos, won a treble at Barca and dominated French football with Paris (yeah, not a great feat I know but still)

He also was the most crucial player for getting PSG to the final in 2020, easily best in that campaign

In Brazil he won Confederations Cup, often underrated achievement which was significantly harder than a Copa for example would be. Plus he mostly played with some of the worst selecao lineups ever in the world cup and still managed to put some very good campaigns

I wouldn't attribute Neymar's relative lack of success to his playstyle, there are more things to look for here and they make more sense

Hence, I'm not really worried Lamine might cost us winning more trophies in the future (as obvious as it may sound, he is our best player already and is going to improve more over the years. Well some clearly don't get it)

But yea let's blame araujo for something that shouldn't have happened.

I know all involved including the coach will learn from this and it won't ever happen again, only chance we have of winning the CL with flick as coach.

Because as some crucial point, the risk will come to bite us in the ass, you don't know when or how, but it will.

Is it too much to expect him to defend properly and use his god gifted strength and athleticism to hold off a 37 year old, slow and tired CB from beating him to the ball to score?

I get what you are saying. I agree with you too, but is it really too much to expect from Ronald Araujo regardless?

He's just such a disappointment.

Could have also just recycled possession for 3 mins. Henry also mentioned the midfield.

Every time I watch the sequence, everyone on the team, from management to players comes off braindead.

Even 120 + combined age current Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets with no legs would have enough IQ to garbage time the ball.

It's certainly not he could have done better.

But one has to do a root cause analysis of these things, to ensure it doesn't happen again, blaming the wrong person or cause, will lead to a repeat of the same mistake again.

The situation was mishandled, that is correct.
Araujo being a brainless waste of space, that is also correct. Regardless of the situation, what he did for two goals is inexcusable.

To put it into context how braindead it is, it's like being up 2 in a basketball game with you having the ball and 20 seconds on the shot clock. With NBA final on line.

Not even Jordan would take a shot to go 4 or 5 up but risk giving them the other team the ball back.

Goodness.

In this situation it's flick that's a brainless waste of space is my point lol.

But I know we are all angry and araujo is a easy target.

Exactly soooooo many better freaking options.

The game is already won, who tries to freaking win it more but a flick coach team lol.

Araujo is an easy target due to him being insufferable and terrible. There's more clips of how he warmed up barely making an effort with the staff member correcting him. His attitude stinks almost as bad as his actual performances.
