Currently Joan Garcia is emerging as the Barca GK for this age and also I'm reading stuff about Valdes being the greatest Barca GK of all times.

I have to disagree. I remember some great saves, but I also remember some of the donkey moments of Valdes. FC Barcelona were the greatest circa 2010-11, but not the goalkeeper, he was 3rd option for Spain after Casillas and Pepe Reina that won the World Cup in 2010. Valdes had the comfort of playing with some jihad defenders like Puyol and young Piquenbauer in his career and it served him well.

If you want to argue, yeah, Valdes is the most successful GK in Barca history. But not the best.

Yeah, he had way too many fuckups for be considered the best. His luck was playing in the most dominant football team in history. There are enough Youtube compilations about his fails, you'd crucify today's keepers for it. People just have selective memory and only remember the good things.

Doesn't make sense. Valdes was mostly remembered by his unreliability, but that he also had some super clutch moments in his later years. His best ever season was right before the career ending injury (forgot the years).

You guys are just listing VV's flaws but don't offer an alternative for the best Barca GK ever, there weren't a lot of good goalkeepers here. It's a position that is by far the worst in Barca's all time 11. Valdes had his mistakes but he's still by far the best GK I ever saw in Barca's shirt (Joan will surpass him if he stays on his current level long enough):

1. Zubizarreta
2. Ramallets
3. Valdes

Didn't watch Zubi and Ramallets so hard to judge, it's true those three would probably be top 3 but not in that order for me. It's a position that was always underwhelming at Barca until our great Perico came to the club.

No one here watched them probably. Zubi made 300 apps in Primera and won with Barca their first CL.
Ramallets also made the final in 1961.

Valdes polarizes opinion like no other GK lol, he's either average or top 3 according to some fans. I always found him quite good, a bit underrated, but not on level of Neuer, Buffon or Iker Casillas.

Never saw anyone claiming he's top 3 in the world.

Yeah and VV had more apps, finals and titles. We remember Valdes' flaws, we don't remember Zubi's and Ramallets', that the difference.
Yeah I messed up, but some people really rated him.

That's a decent point. No one watched them anyway so there's no point comparing.
