Apparently will be out for 3-4 months if he goes through with the surgery. Will meet with a couple of specialists and decide soon.

Maybe the club knew his back was messed up, based on what their Drs told them, and that why they moved so quickly for Garcia?

Or maybe I'm just connecting unconnected lines

Probably a combination of different things.

Joan Garcia being a market opportunity. ter Stegen's declining performances and his injury issues.

If anything it makes it even funnier if it's true that ter Stegen feels disrespected that they signed him.

As will anyone but malvolio.
I'm devastated serghei, feel better now? :mou:

Tbf I always thought a transition year in which Ter Stegen rotates with the guy that eventually replaces him would be the best bet. Maybe there's more to it with rumors of Ter Stegen fucking up his back?
Garcia is just a market opportunity. No way in hell we scouted him for years and decided to pull the trigger. Just like no way biggest clubs wouldn't have pulled the trigger at 25M if the guy was a goalkeeping wonderkid. I don't expect much of him, but I'm not the kind of guy that thinks the GK is essential, just like Barca has won everything before with some mediocre GKs in goal.

Can't even blame him for doing this. They renewed him until 2028 afterall lol.

He was finished after Ainfield and anyone who still was delusional enough to believe he was still good should have seen the light after the Bayern hammering.

Should have gotten rid of this guy 5 years ago.

Remains to be seen if his back is truly messed up, or he's just threatening Barca that he easily can stay and enjoy his time, if they don't come to an understanding with his deferred salary.

But he should know, that his career will truly be finished on the highest level if he does the surgery. Who will buy a 33/34 old GK who had already 4 serious surgeries and who didn't play for 1 1/2 seasons? He can also wave his WC dream goodbye.

Why is everyone so sure his end goal is to play for the NT? He doesn't get money out of it nor is Germany likely to win anything right now.

At Barca he receives a huge salary that no other club will match, lives in a nice city, Barca is likely to win the CL based on last season's performance and apparently he found a new local girlfriend.

I somehow doubt his priority is German NT, so much so that he'd leave Barca for a midtable club just to get minutes so he can secure a spot for Germany. Chances are high if he leaves Barca that Germany loses and he gets all the blame: "See, no wonder Barca got rid."

I think he'd rather receive his Barca paycheck, call in sick and enjoy life in Barca as long as possible.

We don't care.
Just pretend to be injured so we can sign players.

Maybe this is even an agreement with the club. He fakes the injury so he doesn't loose face and still gets his salary and stays without the media campaign against him and the club can register Garcia because of this.
