1 - Marc-Andre ter Stegen

President of FC Barcelona
True true.

For a goalkeeper 33 is a fine age though.

A buying club will be more concerned about if he can regain his level post long term injury than age.

That injury killed Victor Valdes career for example.

That's probably one of the reasons the club also decided it's finally time to move on. Along with his generally underwhelming performances.

He can stay if he wants, but the club need to make it 100% clear. Either he leaves now or he stays for the entire season even if he's the #2 or #3.

No drama or bitching in January. If you want to fight for your place then you need to fully commit to the entire season if needed.

You're welcome
Also Frenkie prolly still had Xavi backing telling Barca they would do wrong to get rid of him.

I think in Ter Stegens case Flick is not protesting much. Could even be telling him he won’t play much if stays lol.

Why did we renew Tek? I mean I understand if we had a deal made for Ter Steven, but given how we knew this was going to be tough ...what was the point exactly of renewing Tek? Small salary or not...

He is still good shot stopper and good at dealing with high crosses.

Also his presence just screams aura and he is seemingly very well liked in the locker room. We don't have too many veterans in the team and that experience he can share with youngsters can be worth a lot.

Probably to put pressure on Mats. To show that we have our lineup of GKs for next season done.

I imagine there will be some compromise at the end. Renewing Tek in particular was a fuck you move to Stegen.

We will probably pay out half his remaining contract or so. Best we can hope for.

Pay nothing. If he is good as he think he is, offers will be plenty.

Club deemed we need more quality/competition for GK spot. Why would that be sensitive topic anyway.

Only our club is stupid enough that they pay future wages, it's unbelivable that they even think about that. MATS know that and he'll milk it, can't blame him.

Every normaln club would just tell him to leave for free if he wants to play again, specially in a situation when he waited 10 years to play in NT and this is his only chance in life. But not us, we'll pay him a shitload of money he didn't earn.

You can play hardball and it might work given he's Germany's number 1 (fucking hell), but there's a good chance we will be stuck with him. He won't get 42m anywhere else (remaing contract).

Compromises are part of the real world.

Then sit his ass on the stands and pay him what you have to during those 3 seasons. Don't just pay that money in advance so he can get money from us + his next club.

I don't know why I even have to write this, isn't common sense that you don't get wages for the years you don't work at that employer. Only in Barca...
