He's not owed what he hasn't earned. 2026 wage.
But he has a contract, though.
If it's in his contract that he is a player for us till whatever, he is owed that salary.
Contract for normal pleb like us and a player is completely different. If I am correct.

You could correct me if I am wrong.

What is this last chance your talking about?

Of course he is entitled to receive what is written in the contract. Would you want him to leave just because some clown on a forum says so?

Not even sure the club had a real talk with him about the situation.
Yes he is entitled to receive what is written. But then ge should honor the contract and stay the length. Not his, will leave only if he gets everything from the remainig deal.

Makes no sense to pay him future wages just so he leaves now.

Well yes, if the contract is terminated unilaterally by the club then we need to pay him the wages owed- or go to court.

If bi-lateral it will be mutually agreed amount.

If transfer then no wages owed on existing contract as new club buys player over.

Only claims "to be paid in full" from Stegs would be deferrals, but seems per latest reports that all deferrals have been finished.

If the article is true then basically it means Stegen is refusing a transfer out, and is only willing to leave the club if we unilaterally terminate him. That's his bargaining chip.

Of course, club won't (or rather shouldn't do that) and should just let Stegen stay as third choice goalkeeper until reality checks.

Only issue is if we have FFP space for playing that hand.

He didn't have one conversation with the club yet about his role next season. As if he would make any decisions before that. People need to relax. The transfer window just opens up on Tuesday. These articles are rage baits, nothing more.

Under no circumstances should we pay out his remaining contract lol.

Deferred money yes, but nothing more.

Other choice is to compete for the job and risk being the #2 or #3 while collecting his salary. The choice would be his.

If he want to stay and compete and will do that while staying professional then sure. No problem with that. But make it clear to him that it would mean him staying the entire season regardless of what happens. We don't need drama in January with him requesting to leave if he is the backup.

It's the same thing but you and other retards in here either don't understand or are blinded by rage.

1. He stays the contract length = gets all the money
2. Club makes him a free agent aka unilateral termination = he gets all the money
3. He gets sold = his future club will have to pay him the same(give him a bonus) so he won't lose money
4. Mutually agreed contract termination = a deal is agreed for lower sum, but both parties close the matter quicker

Great mentality from our captain. He was presented a chance to leave on a high and continue his career but he declines it. If he wants all the remaining money, put him on the stands until his contract runs out, and end his Barca career that way.

It's end of his national team career. I'd call his bluff. I am sure he wants to keep his #1 job there for the World Cup.

He is playing hard, but will bend for sure. Keep pushing.

The club should never mutually terminate a contract unless it is for a significant reduction in sum. There is literally zero benefit to the club otherwise.

If the club pays up his full contract in advance, he can just sign for another club and essentially get 2 salaries for one season. He will also get to play in a World Cup year, in contrast to sitting on the bench all season. Also, Barca misses out on his availability for one season, under any scenario it is needed.

Mutually terminating early and keeping him with the intent to let him go at the end of the season is absolutely not the same thing in the slightest.

Actually no, the money goes to court, and the court only pays him what makes him get his original agreed salary in his original club. In other words, Ter Stegen would never get more than what he agreed with Barca.

In case he signs a contract with ridiculously low salary, like a minimum wage or something, the club can sue for fraud.

With that said, it never goes to that because it is still ridiculously expensive.

Only way his contract is terminated is through a mutual agreement and in that case he won't get his full salary. Will be deferred + at most maybe the salary for upcoming season.

And if he insist on wanting the full payout until 2028 then there's no point of terminating his contract. Might as well keep him for the competition and in case we need him.
