I've said it for years that this guy was not only a atrocious footballer, but also a grade A scumbag.

Anyways strip him of the captaincy and put him in the reserves.

Raphinha for captain. Been a awhile since we have had a genuine killa as a captain.

So Laporta confirmed Ter Stegen's recurrent injury issues and Garcia being a good market opportunity. The fat fuck didn't seem to want to throw Stegen under the bus in his interview.

barcaforum in the mud :mou:

No person at the club will ever throw a current player under the bus publicly.

Let's see if he's stripped of his captaincy or what happens when he returns.

Barca has not had a true leader in the ilk of Puyol since he left. But the current batch of captains are underwhelming to say the least. Apart from being a leader who leads by example with top-tier performances - consistently and more so in high-stake games, a captain should also be professional, mentally composed (high EI), effective communicator when dealing with others ( the media, referees, opposition players etc). But most importantly who takes accountability, commands respect, demonstrate good sportsmanship and values that reflect that of the club's.

MAtS and Araújo are the worst candidates.

Raphinha (forum favorite) checks some boxes but fails in the EI department. The slightest trigger and the man loses his temper, lashing out at referees and fellow teammates. All the work-ethic in the world cannot compensate for lack of self-regulation of emotions on the pitch.

Inigo - Another one hailed as being captain material. He's inconsistent, displays objectionable behavior (spitting at opponents) in high-pressure situations, and will also be leaving in a year.

Pedri - Future captain. But for now given his age and expansive role in the team I'd rather he only focuses on his footballing duties.

So that leaves us only with one man - castigated and witch-hunted by the media and fans for months yet came out respectful, classy and professional - wore the armband and put in a captain's performances in the business end of the season. At his best, a top 5 MF in the world, he exhibits calmness, class and humility both on/off pitch, and you can see he commands respect of opp. managers and players.

Thats :frenkie:for you. I know it's an unpopular opinion and will upset many on here. But I got to say it as I see it.

If he renews, he should be Barca's first captain.

(One moment that stood-out for me was during the Supercopa celebration when MAtS and Araújo were unabashedly hogging the spotlight despite being absent/ or doing minimal in the latter's case, FDJ declined to join them)

Fdj for captain. As much as id like him to be more agressive, for the reasons guy above me mentioned, calmness, respectful towards rivals and referees and has that respect of other teams players. Raph, araujo, gavi are too hot headed, they would bring more chaos and possibly annoy referees to the extent of sending off.
Id go with fdj captain, pedri vice captain.

Why do people always mention Gavi, I just don't see captain material in him. He is a fighter, but not a smart one like Puyol or Masche were.

Pedri for example, is much more suited for that role than him, reminds me of Xavi, leading by example on the pitch.

Ngl just like what zanela said above, I don’t really think that anyone after Puyol was captain material. Like after Puyol we had Xavi, Iniesta, Messi and Busquets. You feel as you change captains the level of leadership decreases you don’t feel the captain has any true or real value in the squad. Only thing Xavi did at a captain level was fix things between Messi and Enrique. Messi became a very great captain afterwards with Argentina maybe due to his experience with the captaincy in Barcelona but like I said, no one really was true captain material after Puyol.
