Meh, Messi isn’t a poacher though. If he had committed to City earlier in the summer and they had spent the Grealish cash on a striker, then it might have worked. I think there would be too many games like the end of Barca 13/14 season where City with Messi would just pass it around but not be able to score.

I also don’t think going to the PL now would suit him and it would be really risky for his legacy.

City never moved for or wanted Messi.

Doesnt fit their team as doesnt run.

Signing Grealish would never stop them moving for Messi on a free if they wanted him in the side.

Why is it that the more intelligent folk on here like BBZ, Birdy, and Jammy are all critical of Messi a lot? Are they pseudo-intellectuals overthinking it or do they see something the rest of us can't?

To be fair Leo?s 2021 has been far from astonishing and that is the truth?Yes he is among the top 2-3 favorites and maybe he will win number 7, but this only shows the decline in the level of superstars.

Messi really played great the first 2-3 months of the year and those were definitely B’Dor worthy.

But after that he failed to save Barca, who bottled the League against relatively weak Madrid sides. Let’s not forget that he was ineffective in both Madrid derbies last spring. We won CdR at least…

After that he had a pretty good Copa and deservedly won an international trophy at last.But let’s not kid ourselves..Leo was neither in GOAT form(especially in the last 2 matches) nor is Copa America so important. In fact, no player of a WC/Euro/Copa America winning team has won the B’Dor the last 15 years, unless he was also dominant with his club. And guess what,Copa is by far the least popular of the 3, I sincerely don’t know if a player has ever won the B’Dor based on his Copa appearances and this should not be the case with Leo.

Finally,since his transfer to PSG Leo has been underperforming. Yeah, the months between August and December don’t really matter for the award, but you have to show something.

Now let’s compare this to Leo’s and other players’ previous seasons..
