Of course, Madrid bought him very young because they expected him to take some time to adjust and mature. raphinha is not the same case at all. He's supposed to be in his prime at 26.

Difference with him is also that Real bought a young player knowing he would develop and they were not going after an instant success of a player. With some leeway their way for player to bed in as had won 4 cLs in 5 years.

Raphinha came into a team wanting instant return from a player in his peak years and are not financially in a position to carry that player on the bench for long if not performing as need funds to improve squad.

He just seems so isolated out on the right. In most of the attacking actions he always received the ball hugging the touchline. There's hardly much he can do from there and Kounde himself isn't really making runs to stretch the field and create space. He hasn't been great but honestly it's up to Xavi to find a better approach for him to flourish.

The way he played at Leeds was more of a play making winger of sorts who could play off other players as well as deliver the ball to runners inside the box, he was never a 1 on 1 demon. He had runners he could play the ball to/off (eg fullbacks/midfielders) along the touchline and the spaces between him and others players wasn't quite so large, couple that with him having less space against most opponents and this what we have. He definitely needs to start showing more but at the same time the system is really not playing to his strengths (eg isolating him with a player to beat him 1 on 1)

Raphinha lost possession 24 times at Girona, more than any other Barcelona player has in a single league match all season

Very strange player, when he gets the ball it feels like he is master in ball control, everything smooth. Even when he starts his dribble all looks great, then suddenly he either easily looses the ball, gets of balance or something bad. It's like turning to amateur in matter of seconds.

Haha true, I observed the same. That's why there's still room for him to improve his overall ball control. He reminds me a little bit of Mesut ?zil who is also able to show fantastic tricks and smooth ball control but he loses the ball to easily when opponents attack him in a fast way.

Raphinha is a good player and shouldn't be judged by his latest games.. raphinha now suffer from peer-pressure. He feels like dembele is ahead of him so when he is on he tries to emulate dembele (1 on 1 take ons). That's his major flaw. Raphinha should be aware that he is better than dembele in other departments (play making, physicality, passing, crossing, space intelligence). So he should focus on his strengths rather than trying to do what dembele does. That explains why raphinha started relatively well with substantial contributions mainly through making assists. now that dembele is out he should go to the pitch and forget about "eliminating his man" and play his regular game. Once he gets this to his ahead im certain he will be much better. Raphinha is not a bum. No bum can start at the Brazilian national team in the world cup.

Richarlison is a good player, but there are no competition for his spots

Rapinha keeps a lot of wingers out from RW and starts for brazil.

But he might lose his spot if he keeps up with disasterclass this season.

LESSSOOO time to put up or shut up get the W
