FWIW he started 14 matches including all 4 we've kept clean sheets in this season (not counting Copa vs Tercera)
Yes - we are that dreadful at balancing scoring with defending

He's no good with ball at feet which was known ahead of transfer.
But then neither was Pepe. Not that type of player.

Think he'll be fine, but hardly some amazing player. He could still have enough games where he bullies people into submission when stakes are high.

Team is in a slump so he'll get himself together once they get passed that. But can't help enjoy it somewhat after that disrespectful run against Japan.

It's the same discussion that some people do on Barca players

It's not a problem of Rudiger, but of the structure/tactical plan of how to use him
He can't be phenomenal 6 months ago and now shite.
Tuchel simply knew how to use him

Not convinced of the disrespect intended on these goofy runs
He does it when team is drawing as well rather than some exhibition of cockiness
It's more often a manifestation of self-confidence when in direct duels against somebody, lets him plant his feet in front of a smaller guy
Granted never does it when team's losing, not that I have seen anyway

He thrived in a 3-5-2 under Tuchel especially with Thiago Silva next to him and has looked generally more vulnerable in a back 4. I don't think he's a world beater but he's certainly a capable defender.

Tuchel kind of revived his career a little bit as when he returned from injury back in 2019 he was very much a rotational option and wasn't putting in the performances that would have alerted a club like Real to go for him.

Agree with mc_lovin definitely not someone to change a system for but decent depth on a free transfer.

Conversely - could be wrong but thought Christensen looked weak in a back 3 vs top teams

Mainly Chelsea-RM comes to mind when got left exposed to pace vs the 2nd most explosive winger possible
Also was shite for Conte when first arrived in 17/18 IIRC
Can't recall many noteworthy showings under Tuchel in that CL campaign, fairly sure wasn't even first choice that often
On other hand played loads back 4 but Europa level under Sarri

But could be that Barca lucked out getting the freebie CB that is better in a back 4.

Honestly didn't expect Christensen to be this good either. Saw him as a third choice CB type of player, but he is really gonna push Kounde and Araujo for a starting spot and that's actually fantastic because that's what we need. Quality competition and not garbage depth.

Christensen started in 5 of the 7 CL games after Tuchel arrived and in one of two he missed was only game they lost.. Tuchel had him in from both semi final legs and the final.

Rather have him than Rudiger and also younger while on less wages.

Starting doesn't have to mean much but confess don't remember much from him those games. Just recall always been the weakest of the lot at Chelsea. Could be player fit to team. Much like Rudi turns out to be misfit at moment but could come good

It means he started often in a team that won CL. He also played well.

Was very highly rated by Chelsea fans at that point.
