It was posted in this forum about a month ago. Basically dust particles can't enter his eyes. He supposedly has very irritable eyes and they get red/watery easily. That's why he is wearing glasses like that to protect him from all angles.

Probably hired a fashion designer/fashion adviser once he started making a lot more money. It's not necessarily that he looks different from before, it's just that he know how to compliment his style now. Many Hollywood stars would probably not look as good without their personal stylists.
