    England

He's just wrong though, isn't he? They obviously weren't anywhere near the level of Spain's golden generation, but Scholes, Lampard, Gerrard, Beckham, Owen, Cole, Ferdinand, Terry, Seaman etc. in their prime were a golden generation for England. He seems to be applying the tag to the players in...

    Manchester City

There was never any restrictions on foreign kids. The only reason clubs brought in so many foreign kids in the first place was because of the poor quality of the English kids the country was producing. What the rules should do is make it easier for the best kids to get to the best academies...

There used to be a 90 minute rule whereby teams could only recruit kids who lived within 90 minutes of the club. There also used to be limits set on the contact time kids could have with coaches each week. Both have been abolished for Category 1 & 2 academies.

    Best Possession/footballing teams?

I never said anything about luck. Those gaps are however largely dependent on mistakes from the opposition, even if you did pressure them into them with your ball movement. If a team could maintain perfect positioning, Barca would find them nigh on impossible to penetrate. Fortunately, such...

    Best Possession/footballing teams?

How can you possibly call a system in which retaining possession is often prioritized over attacking, the "most attacking football possible"? Possession to not equate to attacking. You move the ball around until there is a gap for you to exploit, that is as much reactive as it is proactive...

    Manchester United

In terms of facilities it'll probably shit on anything else out there at the moment. It'll be the coaching set up and personnel that counts though, and I suppose that'll be where Ferran Soriano comes in.

You experiment to see what works and what doesn't. Clearly he felt it wasn't going to work in competitive games.

I know. I was replying to a comment about the way Spain played in their friendlies.

Spain has a relatively poor record in those friendlies don't they?

    Spain

People seem to forget that Spain are more successful than Barcelona at the minute. Criticising Del Bosque for not trying to emulate that latter is ridiculous. Clearly his system works, and works fucking well.

    Raheem Sterling

I'm not sure that bit's actually true. I've seen it quoted as well in Jamaican articles as well, but they never cite a source and always say he said it 'some time ago'.

    Raheem Sterling

Hodgson has all but said that he won't play, but being around the squad would be a good experience for him. I don't think he'll play a big part, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a few minutes, if only to make sure he's tied down as an England player in the future, because he was born...
