Well I never said he had a good season, but to say it was abysmal is to be detached from reality. He scored as many goals as the season before and registered slightly more assists in a much more restrained role. He was average, not poor.

I don't think anyone is arguing that opponents in the World Cup are tougher than the ones in the Champions League, but that doesn't mean the latter is harder to win and it certainly doesn't make it a more prestigious tournament.
