    10 - Lionel Messi - v2

I was a bit surprised at the 2nd half tactics that seemed to work VERY well. Kudos to whichever coach came up with it. it was something like: Tello----------Villa------------Alves -----------Messi------------------- Tello and Alves stretched the play and played in crosses and other regular...

    FC Barcelona B (Barça Atlètic)

I know that the defense wasn't tested much but I find it funny that we actually happened to keep a clean sheet coincidentally the very first game he started.

    Bartra or Muniesa?

Bartra has done well but I'm not sure on how keen the management is on keeping/playing him. He's spent most matches in the stands or back at home and has played VERY rarely this season. Muniesa just came back from injury so the coaches know that he isn't ready for the first team. The fact that...

    Daniel Alves

He slacks off at defending yet goes way over the top in attack and often neglects the normal way a fullback operates. He runs into the middle instead of overlapping the winger and therefore pedro/alexis get isolated.

    Thiago Translantara

He was very involved in our play today and had a seriously underrated game. He was roaming everywhere and distributing the ball really well. He is very smart at playing long passes to the wings to spread the play out and keep us from getting clustered in the middle. Also he isn't afraid to take...

    Bartra or Muniesa?

Odds are only one out of the two have a real chance to make it so which one do you guys think gets the edge?

Transfers and Rumours - old thread

lol as if they would accept that. In Lloris they have a young, reliable, talented shot stopper (albeit being somewhat overrated). In Valdes they would have a somewhat error prone sweeper keeper (which they have no use for) who is only good for another 3-4 years max before his prime is behind him.

    Xavi Hernández

You dared to call Busquets useless AND compared him to Mikel??? If anything, he is our version of Claude Makelele with the added bonus of being a perfect one touch player and a great passer. Whenever the offensive players move around and roam in attack, he moves to cover the space and provide a...

    Martin Montoya

Montoya was solid today and made us more secure defensively. He covered well for Masch when he went up to tackle the opposition attackers.

    Cristian Tello

Did great and I think he's once and for all proved that Alexis doesn't help at all with his "off the ball movement". The moment Tello came on their defense was spread, he stretched the play, and helped when he was on the ball. When he is 1v1 with a defender they are shaking in fear that he could...

    Xavi Hernández

that's also when Messi as a false 9 was deadliest. Not only could Messi score, but with the CB's pushed up to mark him, he could play a pass behind the defense for Henry/Eto'o to run on to and then finish. That's why a false 9 works best with 2 wide forwards instead of out and out wingers. That...

    Jordi Alba

That's exactly what we should be doing (it's been suggested by many) but I don't think the coaches even consider it. Although I'd rather have it be Alves/Adriano instead of Abidal. Abi should be used as a CB because he probably doesn't have the pace or stamina to fulfill his old role as a full back.

    Pedro Rodriguez

It's not Messi's selfishness (he's very selfless if anything) that's holding Pedro back and I don't think the dip in form is making him this bad either. It's his role in the team. With Alves there, he is limited in attack because he is always running around to defend and pressure to make up for...

    Thiago Translantara

Xavi has fulfilled his role perfectly but he hasn't been above average in adding anything else. No deadly through balls, less goals, less dribbles, etc. His importance is still there but he hasn't brought any other X factor to his game to make him a real force this season.

    Jordi Alba

+1 Also, i think that Iniesta can and should be used as a left winger when we shift the emphasis of attack from the right side to the left. Think about it, for a majority of the season we had used the left flank more often to channel our attack and Iniesta was absolutely amazing on the left...

    Xavi Hernández

He's been very tame recently but there is no way he's as bad as some of you say he is. Putting Messi in midfield is just going to stunt the goalscoring abilities of a forward whom scores 70+ goals a season, why would we do that?
