I was going to post the highlights of the Euro supercup and dissect every major mistake Mathieu has made at LB since joining the club but I'm instead going to take a step back and realize that if I have to argue that he sucks at LB, the person I'm arguing with is already so deeply in denial that...
There's really no need. When discussing anyone outside of the usual suspects to win the CL there is no clear 4th option. Juventus obviously did better in the CL last season than PSG and in the season before that Atletico was clearly better, and in the season before that Dortmund did better. It's...
He's started as LB as many times as he's started as CB and whenever he's subbed on he's only subbed on as LB, which means he actually has more appearances at LB than CB.
He's actually our backup LB...
If all Mathieu has to do to be considered having a good game is avoiding single handedly being the reason we drop points or concede absurd goals that says a lot about Mathieu's quality overall.
I don't get it, if Alba is on the bench he can play. When our only subs for LB are Mathieu and Adriano Alba should play every game unless both of his legs are broken.
Heavy touch wasn't deliberate, but the dive when he went down after realizing he screwed up certainly was. It's clear as day to anyone who's played or watched why he went down when he did.
He was only overrated by people because Tata Martino used him in a few preseason games. Most of the people who hyped him up didn't have to suffer from actually watching him play like us who watch the B team did.
So when we inevitably bring him back in a few days/weeks should we refer to him as D. Suarez, Denis, Baby Suarez, midfield Suarez, or just call him Suarez and lol at any confusion it causes?
