    Lionel Messi - v7

The longevity is key, especially CR7. Look at Ronaldinho's level from 03-06. He was incredible. Ronaldo in the mid to late 90s (and a great comeback around 2002-2004). They couldn't sustain it for 10-15 years. Ronaldo's one season at Barcelona is up there with a lot of Messi's but it was only...

    Lionel Messi - v7

His career needs another high point. Whether it be a CL (won't be at Barcelona), a Copa America (one last go next year), a Ballon D'or or a strong World Cup (I doubt Argentina will even qualify as Messi will be too old to carry them like last time and that'll hurt his legacy even more).

CL | 1/4 Final: FC Barcelona - FC Bayern Munich 2-8

The Barca locals never used to be known for being happy clappers. It was white hankies at every bad run.

CL | 1/4 Final: FC Barcelona - FC Bayern Munich 2-8

How long until "We could end up like Barcelona" becomes the huge warning sign for any club who fear decline? It used to be Liverpool or Milan.

    1 - Marc-Andre ter Ansplant

Irony is initially Bravo was the La Liga keeper and MATS the CL keeper when we last won it. Maybe try the number 2 in CL.

The culture of a squad is set by the seniors though (and beyond that the coach and the board). That's why Pep got rid of the likes of Ronaldinho and Deco because he wanted to change the culture and have Messi and co given the right guidance. Now it's gone full circle and those young players are...

    Sergio Busquets

His decline also coincided with Xavi and Iniesta leaving/ageing. Combined with him slowing down with age/losing motivation and energy and you've got someone who is basically the modern equivalent of Deco in 2008. No longer fit for purpose in a Barca midfield. He could probably go to Italy or...

    Lionel Messi - v7

It's a complete lack of legs in the side. Busquets, Vidal, Rakitic - these are all slow players who haven't got the energy or legs anymore. Roberto is a slouch. You can't carry that in a modern midfield. Suarez can't run. Messi has poor stamina. Come up against a fast side who are clinical and...

    Lionel Messi - v7

Muller is flavour of the month because he's had a great season but he went badly off the boil for a couple of seasons himself when Bayern and Germany had a dip. He was terrible at the last Euros/World Cup and looked done at the top level. Bayern are back on fire this season and he's back to his...

Given the state of Barca, Real getting on and Atleti not what they were could Sevilla challenge next season?

    Lionel Messi - v7

Its not even just the lack of defensive work, it's the lack.of pace. Suarez can barely run anymore and we have a steady stream of really slow midfielders. At least Neymar was quick. Messi has the stamina of a retired player as well. The modern game is about pace as well as energy and hard work...

His legacy isn't GOAT. He's become a laughing stock.

CL | 1/4 Final: FC Barcelona - FC Bayern Munich 2-8

Shades of Liverpool in the early 90s or Milan 10 years ago. I was reading an article about Liverpool under Souness on The Athletic. He took over and saw an old team who had won everything but were 30+ and had lost their legs and lost their hunger. The rebuild job was just too big.

    Lionel Messi - v7

Legacy well and truly destroyed now. He'll be remembered more in CL for the humiliations than the wins. Just like his international career will be remembered for the final defeats. He's played his part in the Barcelona downfall, a downfall which will also be part of his Barca legacy.

Roma and Anfield destroyed this team.

CL | 1/4 Final: FC Barcelona - FC Bayern Munich 2-8

Not being able to compete in CL is unacceptable, especially with Messi in the team. Bayern have only won CL once since 2001 but they're there or thereabouts near enough every year and don't get humiliated year after year.

CL | 1/4 Final: FC Barcelona - FC Bayern Munich 2-8

Barca have got no legs or pace left. We got hammered by a Liverpool team that were knackered and had Salah and Firmino injured. Can't even say this has been coming as it's happened every year for about the last 5 in CL.

    Lionel Messi - v7

Ronaldo will still be scoring 20 penalties a season at 40, while Messi will have 20 a season taken off by VAR.

CL | 1/8 Final: FC Barcelona - SSC Napoli 4-2 (agg.)

Tragic that Barcelona go into a tie against Bayern just hoping to keep the score down, like we're from the Croatian league or something. What a sad decline it's been for this club.

CL | 1/8 Final: FC Barcelona - SSC Napoli 4-2 (agg.)

At least only Juve went out to a team finishing 7th in an even weaker league.
