He's so good though that even him in minor decline is better than almost or maybe every other attacker in the league.

Lol why do you guys dislike each other so much? I enjoy reading both your posts. Is it just clashing on Frenkster?

    Pep Guardiola

Yes. Good upper mid-table players a lot of them, but average by the standards City are accustomed to and their previous legendary players. Obviously if they wanna finish top four then these players should be enough (though they're struggling early in the season, but think they will improve)...

Saliba, Saka and Odegaard. Three of their key players. They struggle at Anfield in recent years enough as it is.

I was. It's obvious good players can play in struggling teams. And if I didn't genuinely believe that, I'd still be sticking to my guns on that. The fact I have admitted I was being facetious instantly proves I was. We'll see. I tend to be right on the PL too. So this could be an unstoppable...

    Pep Guardiola

What's going on here? maybe there's just not enough brilliant players in football anymore. In the past they targeted brilliant players (for example Toure), or up and coming players ready to explode ( for example KDB). Nowadays they're going after 'decent mid-table players'. Mid table players...

    Premier League 25/26

Maybe I don't particularly like them but suppose I prefer them to the three red teams and Chelsea, so hope they can figure it out. I have nothing against Reijnders, and to be fair it is very unfair to judge him relative to elite players like Toure, Rodri, Silva etc. But unfortunately for him...

    Premier League 25/26

Fair enough. I think you are both good posters. I just don't see it with this guy (at the level City operate I mean). I agree that De Jong is a much better player than this guy, too.
  9. Maradona37

    Premier League 25/26

Fair enough. Maybe 'average' was harsh. He's a good player in general but relative to their past players who won huge trophies, he's mediocre. He'd be fine for Spurs or Villa who aren't expected to win anything.
  10. Maradona37

    Premier League 25/26

Obviously I was being facetious with that. But the point is, do you see this guy being a factor in a team that wins PL or CL? He's fine if you wanna fight for top 4 I guess, but he's never gonna be of the level of their past players.

    Premier League 25/26

I am not denying he has some degree of talent. But by the elite standards City are expected to operate at (winning PLs and CLs), he's average and doesn't have it. He's a top 4 Serie A level type of player, imo. Same goes for a lot of the other guys they have signed. Decent players, just not...

    Premier League 25/26

I find a lot of football fans these days take a liking to certain players they've barely seen, or only watched on highlights videos. Then they start obsessing over that player or players like they're their relatives. Constructing a narrative like they know all about that player. Not saying...

    Premier League 25/26

I generally agree with you on plenty of stuff, just not this. I do agree with you on Bellingham. The point is you're probably impressed by him running the show against Cremonese for MIlan, whereas I am not. hence the difference in opinion. Like Jam Dav said, his team finished 8th in Serie A...
  14. Maradona37

    Premier League 25/26

Not doubting he will improve from how abject he's been. But will he and the others improve to the point City are back to being serial PL winners and CL contenders? Doubtful.
  15. Maradona37

    Premier League 25/26

The point is he's a drastic downgrade from when they had Yaya Toure, David Silva, KDB, Bernardo, Rodri at his best (yes I know he's a different type of player or position to most of these but I mean in standard). And that's true of so many of the players they have signed. A clear level or 8...

    Premier League 25/26

Or maybe you're easily impressed? Just because it takes you ages to evaluate a player doesn't mean it takes me that long. You're a hipster.
  17. Maradona37

    Premier League 25/26

Exactly. Hipsters rating someone who's a good player but a Milan level player at best. He will never be at de Jong's level.
  18. Maradona37

    Premier League 25/26

Or maybe he's just not that good. Everyone always hides behind 'he needs time' with every player. .I have seen him about a dozen times now and he has never impressed me. I can't see City improving much so he will go down with the ship.
  19. Maradona37

    Premier League 25/26

He's lost too many great players from the past and replaced them with overrated hype merchants from poorer teams or weaker leagues like Reijnders, Doku, Savinho, Marmoush, Ait-Nouri etc. They're all mid-table players. Cherki might prove the exception but jury is out on him too. Mid-table level...

    Premier League 25/26

I was told by everyone on here that Reijnders is a superb player. Looks extremely average and overhyped, like so many players nowadays. Serie A level player.
