    Frenkie de Jong

the team is still built around Busquets. someone who fits "barca" just means someone in who can fill the role of Busquets. if that's out requirements, we might look 30 years and not find our guy. i'd forget about this monolothic idea of a "barca," and see what kind of team we could actually...

That progressive carries xG thing is one of the most dubious uses of statistic i've ever seen. The on-off is not a bogus statistic in itself, like the other one seems, but one where correlation is pretty obviously removed from causation. Also, sort of weird to include this stat and not mention...

    Ousmane Dembélé

yes, i agree -- especially when having to take down balls coming in the air. would still be somewhat of a threat. along side overlaps, a pretty simple and available weapon we for some reason just seem to ignore.

    Frenkie de Jong

really didn't think he looked slow at all. was all over the place. was behind the pass that sent them down to 10 men. then kept the house in order. not a big challenge but handled it flawlessly for me. if other midfielders deserve praise for such a game, so does he.

    Ousmane Dembélé

should utilize his speed more like Vini. one-two and he's off. just put it behind the line and you know he's there. simple stuff but damn effective when you've got the speed.

    8 - Pedri

He and Gavi were alright I suppose. I can forgive missing chances. The big problem with him and Gavi for me is the lack of push. Everytime we create a chance, we automatically take the next 3-4 minutes to just pass it around with no penetration. There just isn't the cynicism there that you need...

    Pablo Torre

seems a bit out of tune with the game. could be the jitters. but i like his bravado. we also have Garrido with the U19s (or b team?) who could realistically challenge for the same spot in the next few years.

    Frenkie de Jong

Yes I have this weird notion that the other midfielders besides the DM share a defensive responsibility as well. Seems to me De Jong was tracking his man, which, if Pedri had done the same would have prevented the goal. Then he took up a completely normal position for a DM, holding the space...

    Frenkie de Jong

you're obviously being completely ridiculous in suggesting that the midfield players share the an equal degree of blame in that situation. Could Frenkie and Kessie have done more? I guess. You can always do more. Every one of our 11 players could have done more. But that is not the same as one...

    lol are you fucking serious?

    Frenkie de Jong

a player having poor positioning is a real issue, but very often these claims are just tossed around as though they magically validate any criticism. of course it's very subjective unless you wanna go nuts in ms paint and even then it's easy to manipulate. i thinkt the claim that we lacked...

    Frenkie de Jong

right, and watch Pedri in the build up to their goal: https://streamff.com/v/98338c First he stops tracking the man on the wing to lunge at the ball carrier who was getting closed down anyways, fails to get the ball. First mistake. Second action, Pedri approaches the ball carrier, who cuts...

    Frenkie de Jong

Sorry but in what way did Pedri have a bigger role last night? Both were fine. For me, Pedri has been perhaps our best player this season and Frenkie hasn't shown enough, but last night, both were fine, neither better or worse than fine. I hate these obviously ready-made opinions after each...

    1 - Marc-Andre ter Ansplant

he's looked incredible to me. not just good, but very very good

    6 - Gavi

didn't Robert Moreno say last night as commentator that Gavi renewed this summer?
  16. BusiTheKing

    Ansu Fati (loaned to Monaco)

looks very awkward. needs to focus on getting his natural biomechanics back if he wants a career
  17. BusiTheKing

    6 - Gavi

great presence as the game progressed and those steals are gold. subpar creator tho

    Messi or Bellingham

    Ansu Fati (loaned to Monaco)

he can't sprint. plays with his foot on the brake. looks like he suffers from that post-hamstring injury running style, unconsciously safe-guarding the muscle, afraid of overloading it.
  20. BusiTheKing

    8 - Pedri

he's dropping down to pick it up much more and it really suits his game. long balls are pin point. very rare that you see a guy his age play like this, so in tune with his ability. next thing on the agenda for him is to copy iniestas final third penetrating game
