    1 - Victor Valdes

Not having enough money to buy a great GK and a world class CB (and perhaps an up-and-coming, young CB) would be one rational explanation.

Transfers and Rumours - old thread

Only at Barcelona do we spend a fortune on a midget DM, then turn him into an inadequate CB!

    he's a DM FFS!

Because it means that we can spend what's left in the coffers on CB(s); we can buy a GK next year!

    Cesc Fàbregas

Lets rotate Iniesta----Xavi --------------------Busi with Fabregas------Thiago ------------------Song next year, game about.

Well done to Valdes; he proved a lot of us - including me - wrong. He has empowered Barca in this situation by agreeing to stay. Barca can sell him (10 or 12 million) and buy a replacement, or they can spend what's left of any monies for transfers on a CB or two, and buy a GK next year.

    9 - Luis Suárez - v1

Have to say that Suarez is a supremely gifted footballer, though; arguably the best in the EPL.

To Liverpool? Why on earth would di maria or higuain lower themselves to play for Liverpool? To go from one of the top 5 teams in the world to a team outwith the top 5 in the EPL?! Still, it brought a smile to my face; thanks for that.

    England

They might as well fail to qualify for all the lack of quality they bring to a major tournament.

    England

If only they played a game that was even a fraction of the quality of the German team!

I've been saying that for ages. He would drag CBs around making space for Messi. He would enable our wide players to get to the by-line and actually cross into the box. He'd be another option at corners and free kicks attacking. He'd be an out ball, he could hold it up, flick ball on and defend...

Moyes was playing with a stacked deck at Everton and had them punching well above their weight. Let's not jump the gun, let's wait to see what he can do with a squad of talented players and money to spend. Unless you've got a DeLorean with a flux capacitor sitting in your garage?

Oh, dear! Try 'what if he gets a serious injury...who will score Barca's goals?' We have been extremely lucky that the wee man hasn't caught an injury, but you never know...

Are you going to buy the 2013/14 Barca Home or Away Shirt ?

You're right, XMG, perhaps I was more than a little harsh. Reminds me of the old story in The Sun of the Newcastle fan who got a large tattoo of Andy Cole in A Newcastle shirt a coupla days before he signed for Man Utd. A name on the back of a shirt is not the same as a tattoo, but the shirt...

    Cesc Fàbregas

Well, that's cast in stone then; NOTHING/no circumstances can ever make him change his mind

Adriano renews his contract with FC Barcelona through 2017

I like Adriano, AND he weighs in with the odd fantastically well-struck goal too.

    Cesc Fàbregas

Are you Cesc, or his agent, or a member of his family? What part of 'how the hell would you know what Cesc would do' don't you get? It's your opinion, guy, and like arseholes we all have one!

Are you going to buy the 2013/14 Barca Home or Away Shirt ?

I'll buy the home shirt, but will NEVER get a players name on the back. I love Barca and never mind showing it to anyone, but being a fan boy of a player and having his name on me...sorry, no way. Just my opinion, so no craziness, eh?

    Cesc Fàbregas

If I was Cesc, I'd look to play for Man Utd. He was a huge success in the EPL, AND would get to play most games as Man U. need a midfield playmaker desperately. If he's worth £35-40 million, Barca could get a helluva lot of CB for that money!
