    Hello everybody

    Hello. Enjoy the site

    Florian Wirtz

Also, just to play devil's advocate again seeing as you're mentioning what the Bayern suits are saying - the Germans said in 2011 that Gotze was one of the best talents they had ever had (Sammer amongst others said it). Look how that worked out. I think Wirtz will have a MUCH better career than...

    Florian Wirtz

I don't believe anyone is writing him off - everyone knows he's a big big talent and it's a big coup for Liverpool. It's just that diagrams, while helpful, are also misleading. Nobody thinks the guy isn't a potential world-class player if he isn't already. I expect him to do well at Liverpool...

    Trent Alexander-Arnold

Long passing of his is great from right-back in deep positions on both feet, where he can see the whole pitch, and the crossing, but short two touch pass and move in tight areas is a completely different skillset (so I very much disagree he's a better passer than midfielders, depends on the type...

    Trent Alexander-Arnold

What's worse - Trent's defending, Hojlund's hold up play, Onana's shot stopping, Mount and Lisandro Martinez's fitness, or Micky Quinn's pace?

    10 - Lamine Yamal

Superb word. Will remember that. I hadn't even heard that word and unlike you English is my first language, lol.
  7. Maradona37

    Kylian Muppet

He's very reliant on pace. If he loses that he will struggle a lot. Vini the same. Yamal doesn't rely on speed at all.

    Florian Wirtz

Yeah as I said the diagrams are useful for showing Wirtz has ability, but the fact he's near Yamal in them shows just how flawed things like that can be, even though I like them still. It's like how fbref stats don't match the eye test of some players at all. Stats are important, but flawed...

    14 - Javier Mascherano

Seems a clown of a coach. He was a great player. Hopefully Messi does the right thing and retires right after the next World Cup, just turned 39. That's old enough and he has nothing else to prove. The best player ever should also retire after the biggest tournament ever, like Zidane and other...

    Premier League 24/25

Yeah Tempt is closest to it but still not much like it tbh. The guys I met on Yahoo Answers back in the day were legendarily bad for it though. With this being the forum of a La Liga club it's far less sympathetic to the PL, even if most of us like and watch it.

    Kaká

He was brilliant in his prime. I remember first hearing about him in a newspaper before Japan/South Korea (how he was a 'throwback' to the Brazilian flair of old, yes even in 2002 with Rivaldo, Ronaldinho and Ronaldo they were complaining about being too functional) and being gutted he barely...

    Ligue 1

Good post for the most part. Agree with a lot. Especially the part about not enough pressers high up with Raphinha replaced by Leao.

Diagrams like that - while not perfect - make more sense and are more substantial and eye-opening/less superficial than just counting up G/A. Better predictors for the future. Well done.

    Ligue 1

Rashford is pretty awful as a 9, according to United fans (and me having seen him there). His skillset is much better suited to coming in off the wing with the play in front of him, where he has space and can go past a man with pace or a trick. Or where he can run in behind better. he's awful...

    Hans-Dieter Flick

Yeah don't think I have said much in his thread, but don't think Tah is all that. Not young anymore either.

    Premier League 24/25

There isn't really anyone like this on here, but do you know anyone like this irl? Seems like a caricature of a football fan. https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Premface

    Florian Wirtz

I get that but what is the point in the best German talent staying in the league if the majority of it is concentrated at a single club and they have a monopoly? Kane is a good point but he played for a side that is not even close to the biggest on the park or financially in the PL. Not to...
  18. Maradona37

    Florian Wirtz

Yeah you find that when one team has an almost monopoly in an entire league, either on the park or financially. In the 90s and early 2000s United used to take the better players from their rivals/other sides too (Cantona, Cole, Rio, Rooney etc)
  19. Maradona37

    Florian Wirtz

I'd say Liverpool are a better team than Bayern right now too, although both very good and either can win in a head to head game. Wirtz going there should in theory strengthen them even more, if he fulfils his potential.
  20. Maradona37

    Florian Wirtz

Even though I played devil's advocate the other day, I feel more confident he can fulfil his potential going to a club like Liverpool rather than Arsenal or Chelsea or Man United (yes I know they weren't in for him really, but just making a general point). Liverpool generally are sensible and...
