Yeah was looking at that the other month. I wonder if they'll go with stadia from the traditional big Italian clubs, or give the smaller cities a chance. A lot depends on transport links, politics, money of course, lol, etc. Be cool if places like Cagliari, Genoa and Bologna get to be hosts...

    Luka Modrić

But I acknowledge that I am on record as saying I feel a footballer should retire before he turns 40 - unless a goalkeeper. So maybe it's just my bias against old players lol. He probably can still contribute a little in the league there.

I suppose the good news is they only need 5 stadiums as they're splitting 50/50 with Turkey. They do have a lot of useable stadia that meet the capacity demands, even if they're not in the best condition.

Never been to Italy but a lot of people say it's an extremely corrupt country.

    Luka Modrić

True, good point. But still feel maybe it's the wrong approach from them. I am surprised Milan want him. Even with a leadership and experience role, it's another player slot and wage to fill (though there's ample room in matchdays squads in Serie A for him, and he won't get paid much in a...

    Simone Inzaghi

Surely though 49 is too young for a talented coach to go to SA. Hopefully we see him back in Europe in 2-3 years.

Milan are an absolutely finished club it seems. I take no pleasure in saying that as they were so special on the park with Sacchi, the three Dutchmen, Maldini, Costacurta, Baresi etc when I was growing up. But they have been hit hardest by the decline of Serie A financially as well as...

    Simone Inzaghi

    Does anyone want him? Lol.

    Luka Modrić

He's 40 at the start of next season, absolutely love him as a player but surely he knows the gig is 99.9 percent up.

    Simone Inzaghi

Ronaldo raging as his chance of finally winning a trophy there decreases even further.

    Roberto Carlos

Yeah let's stop derailing the thread. Goodnight, rest well.

    Roberto Carlos

Lol good one. Thought that was forgotten for now. I'd rather play in AM btw than CF, lol.

I think for some more conservative coaches, if you have Cafu or Alves on the right, you may want a more defensive/balanced player at left back (like Maldini). Though of course plenty of teams play two flying full backs and do excellently.

    Roberto Carlos

Good team. I would take out Cristiano Ronaldo too if looking for balance.

Greatest player(s) of all time and other legends

Yeah he's definitely up there and in with a shout of that. Though I would still go Cruyff or Beckenbauer myself. I'd say he's the second-best CF ever year, after R9. With Puskas, Muller, Eusebio and Romario next.

    Ousmane Dembélé

Id rather see Yamal or Pedri win it if Barca had won everything, but I agree on Dembele.

    George Best

Yeah, he had a predilection for women, drink and probably drugs too. He also beat his women up, which is why he should never be glorified, same as Maradona, same as Cristiano Ronaldo, same as Garrincha, and other fantastic players who made big mistakes in their private lives, and are flawed...

    George Best

The guy had so much ability. He was a genius level talent. He was fucked in the head though and more interested in drinking, partying and women, bit like Garrincha. Tbh, who could blame them?

    Eusebio

Still underrated. Up there with R9, Muller, Van Basten, Puskas and Romario (if you don't count Pele as a 9) as my top six strikers of all time.
