    Aurelien Tchouameni

I don't think he fits anything the club is building, not just Xavi tactics but the younger midfielders that will stay. That is despite him being actually great. Nico, Pedri & Gavi need someone who is closer to spoiler, so I prefer a clearer DM, Tchouameni is a b2b which won't fit and will cost...

    Xavi Hernández

On the defensive end? We are And that is what I said

    3 - Alejandro Balde

Jutgla and Abde has done well under him. Balde was available for 5 games with B team, not sure I can blame Sergi for his form

    Xavi Hernández

I am not exactly disagreeing about your point, I actually agree. I just think we need to add better organisations in the backline We have better defense than what we are showing

    Xavi Hernández

I am seriously confused what is this all about regarding my reply

    Xavi Hernández

I think "solid" is achievable wih better DM and GK, even with current defense. Don't think we need world class for that. Sure we need reinforcements there but we are better than what we are showing IMO

    Frenkie de Jong

Can you tell us more about his style? My current favorites are Tonali but he won't leave Milan, and Maxence Caqueret from Lyon, whom I think can be perfect compliment to our midfield and if we moved fast can get him on good deal

    Erling Haaland

Isn't that L'Equipe news is basically recycling what Romero said in April? Which Raiola denied too (which doesn't mean much)

    Xavi Hernández

Defense isn't just about players tbh, and while we lack them there is clear lack of tactical discipline from the team. That 3rd goal reminds me of that counter we conceded against Betis, or against Benfica And Xavi actually makes the team defend deep a lot of times, and we still concedes from...

    Xavi Hernández

Main problem I have with Xavi is direction, and where we stands in our rebuild. regarding direction: Do we play possession football? are we attacking team? conservative one? are we pressing or sitting back? I seriously don't know, and it seems he has a problem doing one way without...

    Xavi Hernández

Well, then he sees football wrong and it is a mistake from his part that he needs to fix
  12. khaled_a_d

    Xavi Hernández

So, what do you suggest? Keep them for eternity? Sooner or later they will have to be phased out and we need to start doing so asap. No need to do it all at once, but it seems we actually decided to add more oldies/amigos this winter instead of bringing replacement

    Xavi Hernández

This is the coach thread, so I think it is fair to expect people to blame coach for his consistent mistake. And it is also rational to hope the coach will one day to see it, or at least the board will see it and phase Busi out

    4 - Ronald McDonald Araújo

Positioning is the area he needs to improve the most for me

    Ernesto Valverde

That is one way to describe it if you look at every player individually. But the "past your prime" means you aren't at your physical best anymore, and this entitles massive tactical burden on the team. Pique, Alba, Busquets, Rakitic, Messi, Suarez were the core of the team and all were past...

    Sergio Busquets

tbh, this feels like Xavi instructions. Alba did it against Betis too during their goal, and in many of our games plenty of players does that. Not shifting the blame from Busi, but I think we even have larger systematic problems with this uncalculated pressing

    Daniel Alves

This are bit underwhelming options btw. Mazraoui is solid, but he is just that. Nothing special and no big potential there at all. Dest has higher ceiling than him but we gave up on his development anyway. Azpi is a stop gap.

    Ernesto Valverde

It was already past its prime. The only players that were in their prime was Stegen, Umtiti, Coutinho  Oh, and Neymar and Verratti :koeman:
  19. khaled_a_d

    Xavi Hernández

Directly is the key word. It will never happen, and it is childish to look for direct replacement. Before Busquets we had Yaya, before Yaya it was Emdilson playing DM and before him Marquez played DM, and before him it was Motta and before him it was Davids. Non of those really resembled each...

    Xavi Hernández

Pep is one of the goat coaches (or one of them) and for that it will never be fair to be compared with him. It is like comparing new prospects to the absolute legends of the game, like Messi, Pele, Maradona,MJ, Lebron etc. Sure, every now and then one prospect prove he deserved that comparison...
