    Yes I think either Vermaelen or Mathieu will also cover the LB spot, they offer a more defensive role than Alba. I wouldve liked Benatia or Hummels but like you said they aren´t available... unless someone comes and offers 60m.

    Errrr wrong, why would a club sign a player before they know how fit he is? Maybe he´s carrying an injury nobody knew about, maybe he´s got some health condition... always medical check first, then signing, then further tests about his fitness status.

    Wenger is willing to sell him so why do you think he still wants him? And he bought Chambers as a CB apparently... Van Gaal needs a shitload of CB´s because he plays with 3 per game. Vermaelen might be a good squad player, but his injury proneness and pricetag just doesnt make him so appealing...
