The thing is, and putting aside all my hatred for him. It has become pathetic now. He's been one of the best players in the world, but knowing when your time is up is such a great quality. He could have retired a few years ago and been remembered better as a player. Now he's becoming a meme and...

Impossible? Penalties are about 80-20 in the taker's favour lol. 'Impossible'.

Created the goal against Switzerland too.

    Pepe

Yeah, but against a top team or player, anything can happen in a moment in the QFs, no matter how bad the level of play has been so far. Mbappe for example could still do something spectacular.

Yeah fair points that, I think 70s is when football became high quality. Saying that, guys like Pele dominated so much in the 60s that you'd imagine they'd still be brilliant now. Di Stefano would be in my top 5-10 too. Above C Ronaldo anyway

Hope Max Araujo is ok, looked horrible. Did he swallow his tongue? Rochet and Balogun injured now too. Looked an awfully bad collision.

    Copa América 2024

For someone who doesn't like heights ie me, this camera angle is far too high. I don't mind Camp Nou one but this is way too high.

I guess that's a fair point on Beckenbauer. I would say that he revolutioised the sweeper/libero role though which would count for a lot. But I still understand. Quite surprising that about Cruyff. From what I have seen he was a brilliant player, plus he is a pioneer as a coach. I guess...

Yeah Zico is absolutely underrated as fuck in the all-time debate, a true genius. Four best Brazilian players of all time are Pele, Zico, Ronaldo 9 and Garrincha for me. Zico and Platini were recognised as the best players in the world until a certain young Maradona came onto the scene.

Or Beckenbauer or Cruyff. No love for those two?

Makes sense now - third one was Iran 2018. He should also have been sent off for an elbow in that game but ref bottled it. Those stats are also incredible. Platini's 9 goals in 5 games at Euro 84 piss all over any tournament this gimp has ever had.

Yeah they're on the right side of history now, but it's pathetic how it took him turning against their club to actually see what a piece of garbage he is. And even then, some still defend him, like that crackpot SirAF who posts the number every time he scores ha. Before that they did try to...

    Copa América 2024

Just noticed but special shout out to Venezuela for topping their group with maximum 9 points. They are traditionally a CONMEBOL whipping boy, but in recent years have made great strides and are now competitive. Only saw their game against Ecuador and they played well there. They can be proud...

    Copa América 2024

I am not as tired tonight as I have been in the last 9-10 days, so might be able to stay up to watch USA-Uruguay.

No problem. Who was the third penalty? Slovenia 2024, Austria 2016. I normally have a pretty good memory but I can't think who it was for the fucking life of me. Need Don to come back in and tell us who it is.

    Euro 2024

Yeah I was really looking forward to it, but it hasn't been great. I say fair play though to teams like Slovenia and Romania for being solid defensively and been well-drilled. I don't have a problem with small teams playing low blocks against big teams though as they cannot really do anything...

Was it Iceland? For some reason I thought it was Austria. They were both in the Euro 2016 group and he missed against one of them.

    23 - Jules Kounde

I thought he played quite well. In this tournament he's been fairly solid and dependable. He's not a spectacular centre back or full back but he has looked good defensively and one of those steady players every team needs. However, I haven't watched La Liga for ages, so maybe he's been poor for...

    Pepe

He's aged better than Ronaldo, but tonight he was really exposed. He didn't cope well with those high balls that Slovenia looked to win second balls from. To be fair he is 41 and shouldn't be playing a grueling extra time period. He's generally been solid in the tournament, but that was a tired...
