That's not true, Sporting has been great against big teams, and not only this season. And it was pretty much down to luck, or the lack of it (for Madrid). I think they pretty much set a record for most chances missed in the last ten minutes.
You put a 22 year old in a completely new country and environment and put him on the bench the whole time and that's what you get. It's not his fault that he had Ruud van Nistelrooy playing ahead of him and once he got out of the shit hole that is Manchester he proved his greatness everywhere...
In the World Cup, Forlan scored five goals, Villa scored five goals, and Higuain scored four goals. All three play in La Liga.
Drogba scored one goal, Rooney scored none, Torres scored none. All three play in EPL.
Okay...
Cesc is not in any shape or form worth 40 million. For Arsenal, yes. For us, no. You don't spend 40 million on a player only to stick him on the bench. He should have never signed that long term contract extension.
By pure goalscorers I meant strikers that are great goal scorers but don't have a very well rounded game. Players like Inzaghi, Crespo and Diego Milito to name just a few are great goal scorers but their overall game isn't good enough for Ballon D'or. From what I've observed the kid is...
I don't think he'll ever be good enough to be a starter but he's a great backup and with his versatility he should still get a lot of playing time. 3 million was a bargain imo.
Transfer record doesn't make a manager great. Mourinho is also shit at transfers, is Wenger better than him? Wenger is tactically inept and doesn't know how to instill discipline and winning mentality. The last bit is the most important trait for a manager.
