Yeah, he had a predilection for women, drink and probably drugs too. He also beat his women up, which is why he should never be glorified, same as Maradona, same as Cristiano Ronaldo, same as Garrincha, and other fantastic players who made big mistakes in their private lives, and are flawed...

The guy had so much ability. He was a genius level talent. He was fucked in the head though and more interested in drinking, partying and women, bit like Garrincha. Tbh, who could blame them? :lol:

Still underrated. Up there with R9, Muller, Van Basten, Puskas and Romario (if you don't count Pele as a 9) as my top six strikers of all time.

He was a genius of a player. Moved and dribbled like Messi, though not as good as Messi obviously.

Cannot find a Van Basten thread so will post it here. Went down the rabbit hole of the Linkin Park reddit after all the talk of the CL Final. Look at this guy's list of players better than Van Basten (he said MVB isn't top 20 ever)... Cristiano Ronaldo, Leo Messi, Diego Maradona, Pelé, Eusebio...

Fair point, forgot Alves (and in my Greatest Ever as well). Alves deserves a shout for sure, over Djalma I think and maybe Cafu too. Zanetti could also be a reserve at LB or RB

On this subject, here's a Greatest Ever team I put together a few years ago. Probably biggest oversight is Xavi in the bench. Obviously Cruyff isn't a deep midfielder either but just wanted to get as many top players in as I could, lol. A few big names missing (Banks, Alves, Zico, Puskas etc)...

Cafu and Maldini would be extremely popular (the most popular) picks at RB and LB respectively in an all-time XI. I guess going further back Nilton Santos and Djalma Santos from the great Brazilian sides would have a shout too, but obviously way, way less footage of them.

Agree, just because I seen some people mention Doue. Yamal is obviously better but Doue is class too (and we all said that before Saturday too). It's no shame not being as good as Lamine.

Come on mate - while I agree Dembele has been excellent and am impressed by his improvement at PSG (you make good points there), you know as well as I do that you cannot reduce Ribery to numbers. Not even venturing an opinion on Ribery v Ronaldo that year - just saying that it's a bad faith...

Lamine is definitely better, there's no doubt about it. But Doue is a future world-class player in the making too. There can be more than one great player. Lamine -like Messi - should stand on his own level, all being well. But that doesn't mean that Doue isn't a great player or that people...

United have (for the most part as some are decent) the most clueless, bitter, angry, small-time fans. They call every other fanbase these things, but it is just projection. Another factor for their bitterness is so many United 'fans' support the club because of their love for Ronaldo, so hate...

He's being eaten out from the inside. The little things he gave away cost him in the final. Psg were the best team this season, leave out all the rest. Dimarco could get nowhere near doue, he was pushing him away. The final was crawling with incompetence by inter. In the end inter were just numb.

Yes Pep is a better manager than Ferguson ever was. And indeed, Cruyff's brilliance isn't in what he won, but how he thought about the game and his thinking. Which runs through FC Barcelona to this day.
