    I love him.

There's really no going back, despite what some of us might want. As the Maestro put it: it's what it is. It's football and it costs us, and it costs the whole world. Literally and metaphorically.

So it's already behind a paywall today, that's where some of the money for tv rights comes from. It's not going back and at this point, it's about resource allocation. Big earners believe they can make significantly more money this way, btw., and serious banks find their models sound enough to...

If pro et contra ESL is the only topic here, then yes. You're right.

I don't think they're young people's fault either. Would be pure hubris to claim that, but I wouldn't be surprised if Florentino tried. It's about winning over young people and getting football high enough up their priorities ladder to follow it closely and pay. Starting with subscriptions.

By the time it's obvious to all of us, it might be too late for a successful change. As Hegel put it: the owl of Minerva spreads its wings only with the falling of dusk.

    Florentino Perez

You're either with us or against us, huh? thought we were talking about young fans being less interested in football than before. In that light, both sides could prove their positions, but neither does. Because it's hard. Many factors to consider, starting with football being widely...

    European Super League

Of course Barca and co. can miss out, that's why they wanted safe spots. To limit sporting influence on income and always have the big earners in the competition. I think such a concept needs changes and to be more open and merit-based, but Perez does outline some major issues about games being...

    Josep Maria Bartomeu

Bartomeu didn't persuade Messi to stay, he didn't let him leave. There's a difference subtle as a brick through a window.

La Liga | Round 31: FC Barcelona - Getafe 5-2

Not thrilled with Bob, but agree on Dest. Gets an easy pass on the forum.

Do you have any evidence for the opposite? It's a pretty bold claim, young people watch/are interested in football as much as before. Lots of factors to take notice of, btw.

Btw., for people 'only' having problems with safe spots (not that I like them), it's kind of a point. Barca, Real, Atletico etc. don't really need them, but it makes the model sound and predictable. Investors don't like to gamble with biggest earners missing out.

How could they play 10 times a season in the proposed setup? You'd have a league stage and than KOs.

    European Super League

Exactly. And if their competition wasn't any good, people wouldn't watch it and it would be cancelled. They'd come back to Uefa begging for forgivness. Somehow, I don't see that happening. Perez is right his league concept would be much more entertaining that the CL. Bigger, better quality...
