I agree that Spain's midfielders are all in the same mold. I think that Marcos Senna was the biggest factor for Spain to win the Euros because of the balance which he brought to the team, now there isn't really a player who is willing to do the dirty stuff which Senna did (dirty as in physical)...
Pippo, you voted italy. Care to explain your reasoning?
I do agree that their midfield has a great balance, Gattuso and Pirlo were once the greatest midfield pairing in football. Now, I don't know. It will be interesting who will take up these two roles when they are done. I think De Rossi is a...
I can see Maxwell and Milito scoring... Chygy is highly highly unlikely (to play)
and Abidal is just Abidal. He has been having a good season though, so who knows?
Well on his way to his third Zamora and yet to get a call-up.... absurd.
Does anyone know what the standings for the Zamora look like.... I assume its 19 goals conceded for VV and 28 for Iker?
I voted Spain too! :p
I really hope we don't see Spain and Brazil paired up early. Since Brazil are with Ivory Coast and Portugal anything can happen.... even North Korea winning a game.
I hope Brazil wins the group and Portugal get second.... I think Spain would have an easier time with...
I don't think these stats are valid. You must remember that Brazil plays SA teams which are focused on scoring goals. In Europe teams are more tactical.
If you compare the teams which Brazil played, and the teams which Spain played many people would vote for Brazil
Right now our tactic is pretty much pass the ball to Messi, but I think the team will step it up. If anything we are more reliant on Xavi than Messi (although when Xavi missed the Atletic Bilbao game [i think] Yaya did a good job in midfield.
If we were to play without Messi, I think we can...
Spain 30 for 30 votes.
This poll isn't even fair with Xavi in it :)
Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets Xabi Alsonso, Fabregas, David Silva, Mata, Marcos Senna, Navas.
Holland have a good midfield too. France do too... on paper anyways
I voted Spain, but it really depends on the way that teams play. England probably have the best defenders at the moment, but the way that Spain plays makes Pique and Puyol so much more effective
I voted for the first. Just like barca96, switch Messi and Pedro.
Another formation I like is when Messi spearheads the attack with Pedro and Bojan as supporting wingers
