Midfield is our weakest line under Xavi. This preseason also. Maybe the most compact trio was Pedri Nico Kessie that started against Inter Miami. The worst opponent, naturally but had some inner order. Quality on paper is way above what we're seeing.

He is very limited as a RB. Of course he needs to improve but I don't expect much from him there. Makes sense if faced with a pacy winger who's also a focal point of opponent's attack. But comes with big sacrifice. Otherwise pointless. He excels as a CB and is very good there.

What did y'all like about de Jong? His passing was piss poor, took days to get rid of the ball. 1 on 1 defending and covering was good. Couldn't be pressed. Liked that. Started terrible, better later in the half.
