    Lionel Messi - v7

What is the alternative? Hold the best player in the club's history hostage? He has to go now.

    Lionel Messi - v7

The club confirms that they have received a fax from Messi requesting to terminate his contract. [RAC1]

    Lionel Messi - v7

Doesn't matter if the clause can still be activated or not. This has gone too far and he will get his wish to leave one way or another.

    Lionel Messi - v7

This hurts more than him leaving. Thought we could split amicably, but not the case it seems. Goodbye Leo and thank you.

    Lionel Messi - v7

The board deserves the brunt of the blame for the situation we are in, but it is also the right decision to move on from a few of the veterans. If Leo wants to throw his toys out the pram and leave because of that then goodbye. I hope he thought this through. There is no coming back from this...

    Lionel Messi - v7

This is coming out one day after Suarez was told to leave. Doesn't take a genius to put two and two together. Don't like Barto, but he should call his bluff here.

    Lionel Messi - v7

That clause has to be activated before June and IIRC can only be used to leave to a non-European club. Nothing is going to happen and he'll be back in training by Monday. Until then his entourage can keep leaking stuff to the Argentine media because Leo is butthurt his pet was told to pack...

    Lionel Messi - v7

He has a contact for one more season. Cannot simply leave on his own whim.

    Luis Suárez

Easy to act all high and mighty now, but if we're really struggling in the first few games, cannot find goals and clearly seem to lack a presence in the box Koeman will have no other choice than to give Suarez another look. Desperation humbles people.

    Luis Suárez

If he stays there will be no "sitting him in the stands" or "super sub" rubbish I keep reading about. He will return to the first XI after a month as a deserved mainstay after the Griezmann CF and Messi F9 projects fail miserably. Koeman will come back to him on his knees.

    Luis Suárez

Least they could do is meet him in person, explain the new direction they are going in and let him know of their plans in some sort of respectful manner. Even that no-name failure of a manager Setien had that basic level of decorum granted to him. This is simply classless and we should be...

    Luis Suárez

Less than a minute to tell a club legend he has to leave? Have some fucking respect.

    Ronald Koeman

Koeman's first decisions: Luis Suarez, Rakitic, Arturo Vidal and Umtiti already know that they have to look for a new team. [Alfredo Martinez]

    Luis Suárez

Aubameyang would be one of the better shouts, but when people were really calling for Suarez's head he had just moved to Arsenal and would not have been attainable. We had also just spent close to 300m trying to replace Neymar, we would not have had the money to go for a top tier striker. Looks...

    Luis Suárez

Go on, list them. After wasting ~400m trying to replace Neymar, I'm sure this board would have spent wisely and recruited a great replacement for Suarez.... Nothing "contrarian" about defending one of our greatest ever strikers from unfair attacks.

    Luis Suárez

False equivalence. Sergi Roberto and Luis Suarez are not even in the same universe as far as ability goes. Suarez is a legend by any reasonable metric, Roberto is not. Not that complicated. Tell me who is that "good striker" we could have won La Liga with? How many fewer goals would he have...

    Luis Suárez

No chance. Which "other striker" would have scored ~20 league goals the past few seasons? Paco? Munir? Rodrigo? Because those would have been our other options.
  18. T

    Luis Suárez

Misleading in what way? Suarez scored 25 league goals in 17/18 and 21 in 18/19. Without those goals we finish even lower than Madrid regardless of how poorly they did. Messi would not have been able to shoulder all the goal scoring burden by himself. Suarez was our only other consistent attacker.

    Luis Suárez

CL 2015 La Liga 2015 La Liga 2016 La Liga 2018 La Liga 2019 Not like Suarez never had a good CL run with us. Was fantastic in 2015 and scored the title clinching goal. That alone is enough of an European legacy for an entire career. We don't win any of those league titles without his goals...

    Luis Suárez

Don't mind him leaving, but this is just classless. Thought we were supposed to treat club legends better than Madrid?
