Well, Barca will have to play 3-5-2, since so many forwards are injured. With Pedri out, too, that is not much offense left. No way this current team can compete with the likes of Juve, even if Coutinho magically reincarnates to his Liverpool form.

Towards the end of last season, this young guy w, as one of the worst players I have seen play for the Barca first team. Loan or sell him. He clearly has potential, but as of now he is in way over his head. After a year or two on loan, maybe he could be useful here.

So, per SPORT, what Barca is trying to make all the salaries fit is renegotiating the existing big player contracts way downwards. Messi seems to be going along with a much lower contract. The lower Messi wages will convince the other loyal, highly paid players to take a lot less money, too...

As we all know, Barca has not yet been able to shed much salary. They absolutely must get several of the most expensive players off the books, such as Coutinho, Dembele, Greizmann, Pique, Alba, Busquets, Roberto. No one seems to want to buy all these high-paid players. So, no room to pay Messi.

Time for Barca to move on. Sell or loan ASAP. Realistically, might not be until winter, because teams will want to see that he recovers.

Compared to what? Dembele routinely breaks the defense off his dribble, and he is willing to run. The list of Barca players who can do these things is quite short. I'd keep Dembele, and play him. For instance, I'd rather see him on the field than Greizmann or Aguero.

Facing a probable two year ban from the Champions League, plus current financial challenges, now is the time to go into more of a rebuild phase. Continue melding in young players, under 25 years old, even if this hurts results for a season or two. For instance, bringing in Emerson and Garcia...

Spend the money on well-known players who have achieved at least their mid-30s.

The final two Barca games are against the two hottest teams in La Liga. It would not surprise me if Barca wins no more points. Sevilla could certainly finish third.

Maybe with no fans, this stadium won't be as bad as it usually is for Barca.
