You can´t really blame him for being egoistic in that situation. He gets barely any playtime at all and of course wants to show himself to other clubs or the coach(if he wants to stay).

Of course this was still not the god mode Messi, but really was a big improvement to the last games. He actually ran deep, dropped to get the ball and pass it and also tracked back the ball a few times. His finishing and 1v1s should be better though. I´m just wondering why in this game and not...

Because nowadays our playing syle keeps the ball away from him most of the time. Maybe he doesn't start these runs anymore because he thinks he won't get the ball back anyway?! I don't know. At the end of the day we need this back next season.

If he improves his finishing and reduces the occasions where he loses the ball easily ( sometimes his first touches are really bad) he will be a great threat to all opponents. So I'd say somewhere in the middle.

There were also situations where he went deep, but tha ball was passed to the winger. I don't want to defend his lazyness which has grown quiet worryingly, but our current tactics suit him as badly as they possibly could. This together with his obvious drop in workrate make him look so bad.
